This is my motherboard:

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?lc=en&cc=us&docname=c01077641&dlc=en

I know, nothing much; the stock RAM is 4 sticks of 1GB DDR2 running at MHz each. I want to replace that with 4gbs of DDR2 running at 800, I just want to know if I will be able to use 2 2GB sticks, or if I need 4 1GB sticks. Like, would this work?

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820211188

If my current RAM is running at 1.8v, would this RAM be okay? I should mentioned that this is RAM for a prebuilt HP, so the motherboard BIOS doesn't allow for any RAM tweaking. Would that stuff most likely drop in at 1.8v with those timings?

I was thinking of getting this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820144239 since it is the same number of sticks, same voltage, but still the higher clock; seems like the safest bet.

Any recommendations or help is very very appreciated!

I think I might of have bad memory :(

I don't know if I'm still able to RMA it however..

Ok just looking at the memory I brought here it's past 30 days but is it normal for memory to fail like that? because my curent system has memory which is DDR it has some errors but the system is still up but some stuff crashes if it needs to get to the memory like playing a game with Punkbuster or anything else..

I only ask because this is the 2nd time now but not the same brand of memory.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820148163

Confused about RAM

I currently am trying to update this computer with RAM.
I am having a total rebuild done to my pc and have decided on the following:

i7 920, Corsair Dominator or OCZ Gold, AsRock x58 Extreme, Western Digital Caviar Black 640GB, Corsair 750W or 850W power supply and a gtx260 video card. I will probably be getting a Vigor Monsoon lll LT or Akasa Nero ak967 cpu cooler.

I just purchased a new rig at Neweggs and everything seems to work fine, except my ram. I got a EVGA p55 SLI and OCZ Platinum 6GB 3 x 2GB (OCZ3P1600LV6GK). I am using Windows 7 x64 and updated the bios to the newest version. Windows as well as my bios show me 4gib only + it runs in single channel. I know I am using tripple channel although it's not supported, but I should get at least two dual channel and one single. How do I solve this problem, is there anyhting I can change within the bios? I coudln't find anything yet.

The motherboard is EVGA's 780i SLI, model 132-CK-NF78. It would make sense to follow the mobo's manual when hardware upgrades are concerned, right? The manual (pdf) specifies, "your new motherboard has four 1.8V 240-pin slots for DDR2 memory." Meanwhile, pay a visit to EVGA.com's memory compatibility list and you'll find some 2.1v+ memory listed. Huh??

Besides this, isn't it generally possible for memory not listed as compatible to be compatible?

I could use a clue. Thanks for reading.

OCZ RAM suposedly deactivated
