Actually those prices are right from the retailer

Look at the site, under available it says no. I seriously doubt any retailer would sell those 2 processors at only $10 difference.

They have 6 lifetime reseller ratings with the last one being over a year ago. It would be far from safe to base Phenom pricing on that site. I don't know if they picked those prices from the air but it doesn't really matter if they don't have any in stock that they are currently selling for those prices. Heck, they could put $1 or $1000 on an out of stock item and it doesn't change things a bit.

Well I don't know about that, heres the distributor prices from AMDs master distributor, ISA hardware.
So the prices on that site are right even though newegg will have them for cheaper maybe...

Just to clear up something that might be understood. AMD distributes it's products through more than one company. There are several companies that are classified by AMD as a "master distributor".

ISA conducts most of it's business in Europe. Ingram Micro is the largest worldwide technology distributor, they actually sell quite a bit in the U.S.

In order to purchase from a distributor there are usually a few qualifications you have to meet. First and foremost would be a resellers permit/license which by itself isn't that had to acquire. Some distributors cater more to large businesses with hundreds of thousands, to millions of dollars in sales. You may be able to purchase from them as a small company but you certainly wouldn't see the same type of pricing as a well established larger business. Quite a few of the distributors don't even begin to list prices for the public to see, like Ingram Micro. When a distributor does flash a price for the public it usually isn't an accurate indication for what the retail price would be.

I am not going to tell you that ISA absolutely wouldn't sell processors at that price because I honestly don't know nor do I have the location or purchasing power to buy from them. Newegg is a retailer. They are just so large that they can often times sell parts for less than a distributor lists lower quantity pricing for a particular item. This is due to their buying power and their competitive edge in the market. I have no idea who newegg gets their AMD chips from - hell, it wouldn't even surprise me if they bought large quantities straight from AMD. ISA's price doesn't nessessarily give you any indication of what those processors would retail for here in the states. We will just have to wait and see - it shouldn't be too long hopefully!

For now, I don't think the listing of one site who doesn't have any stock available or the pricing listed on a distributors site in Europe is painting us an accurate picture of what the phenoms will retail for here in the United States. Just a friendly observation

Yea, nice siggy...I don't know about liking it in the future, since I'll be seeing it for another 7 years...(It's 2007, and the World Cup in Brazil will be 2014)...

In reality though, the price isn't really going to matter to much unless the Phenoms actually compete with the Core 2 and so on.

We can argue price on here all day, but until we know for sure how these new CPU's perform, it's all just a bunch of numbers.

Well, you have to also remember Supply and Demand, not everything will be at their M.S.R.P at its first release...

8800GT's are supposed to range anywhere from $165-$300, depending upon version, overclocking, and amount of memory...

So really, until it is released, nothings Official...

Thats because the product isn't released yet, dude thats AMD MASTER DISTRIBUTOR, those aren't retail prices.

8800GTs are going to be $230-250, just not the 512mb one....

The $10 issue is still suspicious...

Why would a much, much more powerful CPU be sold at a price which isn't much further away from the next in line?

The difference between the Phenom 9500, 9600 and the 9700 are simply 1Ghz, with the first two having a thermal output rating of 95w and the 9700 being 125w...Sorry to say, but it is suspicious...The 9700's 125w Thermal Output Rating must be due to the L3 cache, maybe it is larger then the 9500 and 9600...

If this is true, it's likely because AMD knows it cannot compete with Intel on a performance level, or on a performance-to-price level...So their new CPU's must not be too terribly fast...

Still, this is all speculation until the Official Release of Phenom happens, and then the Official Reviews of Phenom...

Yea I don't really believe the benchmark myself, if it was true then I would be somewhat disappointed.
