Nice to see someone here over 50. I've got 5 years on you, at 62! Perhaps the oldest geezer on this forum. I started playing games on a Commodore 64, then an Apple II, then an original Mac (all with monochrome monitors). Anyone out there remember Pong? A truly mindless game, but occupied some of us early geeks for longer than we'll admit.
I've been working with computers since IBM punchcards, and worked for the government on the ARPA net (the original precusor to the Internet). Now mostly build my own systems, from the motherboard up. Work to much now to have time for heavy gaming, but have enjoyed Doom, Half-Life, and Halo. Have enjoyed watching the evolution of gaming from crude pixelated graphics to the current cinema-level graphics with surround sound.
I think the interactivity of gaming keeps ones mind sharp, as opposed to passive viewing of movies and TV. Computers have taken over so many aspects of healthcare, I use computer graphics every day in a large hospital. You young folks (under 25) are on the threshold of a truly interactive world, where your cell phone can now send text, graphics, data, and video to anywhere on the globe. Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, and other pioneers have started a revolution that has only begun to unfold.
I'll be still gaming as long as my eyes see and my fingers twitch! Sorry for the long post, I get tired and ramble.........remember, I'm 62..
