27-- Born in January of '80.

I used computers in school but I didn't own one until I played Wolfenstein 3D and King's Quest V on my dad's IBM i386 with 4 MB of RAM in 1992.  I then begged my mother for a computer and was thrilled to get a i486 with 8 MB of RAM.  Within a few months I was showing my dad how to make .bat files to run Doom Big Smile

29 here, hard to say what the 'typical' gamer is. I work in a tech field though and we're all geeks and gamers so there is no 'typical' there.  Everything from early 20's to mid 60's and 90% play some type of online games in their off time (and at work) lol

    Re: How old are we?

I remember my parents buying a pong game yup.. tennis ping pong, hockey, and break out on colecovision.(spellin). Then I upgraded to a VIC 20 the to a comadore 64 the to Atari 2600 then to nintendo, super nintendo, sega genesis, play station, ps2,

game cube, saturn, and now that I'm older and wiserBig Smile I' ve got a kick $$$ Computer and a Wii.  I stayed away from X box after I rediscovered what computer can do, and play station three can kiss my $$$ for the money they want me to spend so my kids are "happy".  38 years old and wish there were more people playing F.E.A.R. online! My wife who is 18 Wink loves the Wii and so do my kids 13 and 12. Yeah its cool and worth the money 250.. toys are us 100.00 in controllers, but give me my 5200 x2 amd processor and the rest of my rig that I did my self, and you've got a guy that will play computer games till he dies!Big Smile

    Re: How old are we?

28 here and gaming is indeed a part of life!  My first game that I remember was burgertime on the first talking game console called the intelivision out of the 70's.  Then an Atari, all the nintendo consoles excluding the wii.  My first computer game was jumpjet on the apple 2.  My most  beloved comp game of all times is Masters of Orion that came out when I had a 386.

I now prefer Comp games over consoles,(not trying to get the console VS PC war started).  Maybe thats an age thing?

    Re: How old are we?

Just turned 42 - that's dinosaur old for all you whippersnappers.

Spent much of my youth in arcades.  Played on Atari 2600, TRS-80s and a friends Atari computer.  My first PC was an Amiga 1000 and I got it for the GAMES!

The wife and the rugrat eat into my gaming time but, the wife tolerates it and the rugrat is fairly computer literate and enjoys games so we'll see where that goes...

    39 Here.

I think it is part of our generation.  We grew up with Pong/Atari/Commodores/Arcades.

I love the things.  I'm always on the computer blowing stuff up.  Will I be doing it at 50+?  You better believe it.

No kidding. Blowing stuff up is the best part. And it looks and sounds better every year.

17 as of Feb. 11th, First Game ever played was the shareware version of doom in 1993, then the newer ones, quake, decent, blood, heritec, hexen, etc, I am still a HUGE fan of the doom series, heck I got a Doom 3 T-Shirt just to wear when I saw the doom movie the first day it was out, I still have the shareware version on a floppy :P

    Re: How old are we?

LOL... ditto here. I'm 33 and I still game Embarrassed and my wife games too. I have one kid who loves his recent wii that we got him and another who is still too young to game but is already moving the mouse around when we're not looking. ;)  My older kid and I have played together through a network and online and we have loads of fun either teaming up or against. I prefer PC gaming more but we also have a 360 and we used to be hooked on the Call of Duty series for a while but playing a first person shooter just feels much more comfortable on a PC for me. I guess that's what happens when you've been playing FPS since the original Doom.

I agree with that other guy as far as reflexes not being as quick anymore as when you're younger. At close combat arenas I'm not as quick as what I used to be but put us in a larger map and I can hold my own with the youngins.... I guess experience and strategy plays a part too!! ;)

Age=38.  I play Battlefield 2142 currently, and belong to the Ole GeezerZ gaming clan.  We're all over the age of 30, and have a blast with it.

43 and now game mostly with my 14 year old son. It bridges that "generation gap". Nothing brings you together like a good session of BF2!  Big Smile
