    Yet another change

Would it be possible to allow us to unsubscribe from a thread that we participated in earlier?  I think that would be quite nice, some threads I feel that I have given my 2 cents and I no longer want to read up on it but it continues to be bumped up in "my disscussions".  I really think that it would also place some of the matinence responsibility on the user as well, which might be nice once the forums are larger and the moderators have more important things to do.  Just a thought........

    Re: Yet another change

Is a good idea. A lot of posters who repair probs do not post back that prob solved or the solution found.

    Re: Yet another change

I think i may have been misunderstoon, Larrikin, what I would like to do is basically eliminate those threads that I no longer want to be a part of.  That way they dont keep reappearing on my discussions tool bar on the side a the main page and elsewhere.

Ah.  Yeah.  I've asked about that, too.  Hopefully they'll implement something for that.  Even a checkbox with a 'remove thread' button or something. *shrug*

    Re: Yet another change

I would like that too, because it saves time.

I dare to ask even more...

Can we just "mouse over the title or the thread and see who post last without having to click on it?"

Sometimes I think someone post on a thread I post before, and when I clicked It still my last post.

I like your idea, however I think that maybe having them in bold if there are unread posts would be a little easier and faster. That way you could see it at a glance.  We know they can already tell you if the post has any unread or not when looking at the forum so I don't think it would be too much to ask to just add a little code to make them bold in our "my discussions" for when there are new "unread" posts for us.

What about having control over your subscriptions in your control panel? Maybe putting a check mark on a few at once and with one click unsubscribe from all the ones checked?

This is in our "To do" list. Thanx.

    Re: Yet another change

If you click on the 'My Discussions' heading on the homepage, you'll see your threads, the ones that have new posts will have coloured icons, and in the next column over, it will have the last poster. Is that what you mean?

I was thinking more of a way to find out about threads that you started, that way you can keep track of them more easily.

    Re: Yet another change

Anything happening with this?  I noticed that in my Insults Thread, there were some posts deleted, and each of them comes up as a 'thread' of it's own in my 'My Discussions'.  I'd really love to get rid of those (as well as the many discussions I've put my word in once, like the 'how old are you', etc.).

    me too, I agree.

also "unsubscribing from a thread should also stop any e-mails coming from that thread. as some of them go on and on and on. like "Vista or XP" it has like 20 pages lol and thermal grease is getting there.

Is it possible to expand this a little further, not to be picky or anything, but to allow us to remove ourselves from discussions that we have given out two cents about, and no longer want to participate in the thread?  Something like going to the actual thread and removing our participation, but our responses remain, they just do come up in our discussion tab when someone writes a reply?  Sorry to be so picky, the changes have been good!

    Re: Yet another change

I think what he's talking about is on the home page, the panel on the right that says "My Discussions".  If you click on the verbiage, it gives you every post you've been a part of in it's most-recently-updated order.

Now, I just tried this after reading your comment, so I have something to compare this to, but when I went into the 'Subscribed Posts' tab and deleted all the ones that I wanted, I looked back in my 'My Discussions' (after refreshing it, of course), and the thread count was still the same.

Even when I looked in the "Subscribed Posts" the first time, the main one I was looking for ("How old are we?") wasn't included.

That's what I'm talking about, and I think that's what the others mean, too.  All I saw was "Delete" and "Save Changes".  I want them out of 'My Discussions', so I don't have to see them floating to the top whenever another newb posts in it.

    Re: Yet another change

    No problem!

I just figured it was understood all along.  Even a simple checkbox on the 'My Discussions' page next to the discussion with the option to remove it would work - it's nearly the same setup as the other.

At least, that's kind of what I was hoping for.
