Re: *Sticky* What is in your Rig?

Finally starting to get my OCs completed on my newest machine (I don't have all that much time to work on it any more Sad ), here are some updated pictures, the only thing that has changed is that I finally got around to putting my side panels on.

Acheived 3.64GHz (455*8) at 1.45V Prime stable (Not spectacular for a G0, but it gets the job done)

My RAM timings are fairly loose, but I have raised their speed somewhere around 1200MHz, so it's expected 5-5-5-12

My 2900s are still a work in progress, I have reached a voltage limit of 860/1142 for right now, but that's not final

These Maximus Rampages are capable of some good clocks! Cool

Re: *Sticky* What is in your Rig?

Thanks for the positive comments, I spent alot of time on it.  I'm still trying to finish it up.

Case was wiped down w/ alcohol & then regular rattle can krylon or rustoleom primer.  I then tried applying krylon or rustoleom satin black paint but wasn't happy w/ how some areas were turning out satin & some weren't.  So next day ended up spraying flat black over that & it turned out awesome.  I originally wanted it powder coated but that would have been more time & $$$.

Guess I should post my rig in here with the rest of you eggxperts. Needs a bit more cable management but I'm starting work on modding a new case soon so this will have to do for now.

My rig is a lot different than it was a month or so ago.    I finally have the harmony I was looking for between gaming and media.  New mobo, RAM, GPU, bigger Raptor, new monitor, overclock on the Quad.

    It's in my sig.

Re: *Sticky* What is in your Rig?

    There's a few over here...

My primary is an AXP Barton at 11.5*200, 1GB Mushkin Standard, ASUS A7N8X-X, and 9700 Pro AIW.  Power supply is a 400W Ahanix SilenX, one 92mm vantec stealth out the back, and some 15dB 80mm is mated to my SLK-900U.  Storage is courtesy a pair of 300GB Diamondmax 10s, and DVD writing by ASUS as well.  The most important part is the sound card, an ice1712-based M-Audio.  Currently serves for file storage, video, and music-playing.

My new primary (so I can dedicate my previous one over to audio mastering entirely), is a C2D E6850, on a Gigabyte GA965P-DS3, 2GB XMS2, and I've borrowed an 8800GT from a mate.  Lobbed a quiet aftermarket cooler on there (heatpipes.  Nifty, those.) and the 500W Antec supply I grabbed on the cheap ensures that things don't get too loud.  Hard drive is a...320GB WD SATA, I think (didn't pay that much attention to that this time).  I really need to move all my c**p over here.  Mainstay of my compile farm.

Have a T43 Thinkpad with a Dothan 760 and 512MB RAM (do I ever feel it).  80GB hard drive.  Not much to say about the hardware, but this is actually where I do most of my programming and editorial work.

The Uglybox is a brick-like entity with a 1.7 Netburst celeron, 256MB memory, and an FX5200.  It exists only for occasional testing and as a loaner.  Its 40GB caviar is where the XP key that came with my laptop went. :/

Emu Box is a weird one.  A 1.1GHz Tualatin PIII (needs an i810-A/i810-B socket converter) with two sticks of RAM that are only 512MB when in this particular configuration in this particular machine.  Random 30GB hard drive filled mostly with MAME roms. and an 8500 to render them (fantastic for $30).

Except where noted (uglybox), all machines run 100% Gentoo Linux.

"Users' expectations are higher than they used to be—if your interface isn't easy to use 'out of the box,' users will not think well of it...frustrated users can give up and switch to your competitor with just the click of a button. So the cost of building a mediocre interface is higher than it used to be, too." --Jenifer Tidwell, Designing Interfaces

Re: *Sticky* What is in your Rig?

Its together and running primo: the fan speed issue on the HD4850, see: http://www.hexus.net/content/item.php?item=14111 . The Xiggie 120, freakin dumb arse rubber grommets for fan clips, nearly pulled a few off. LOL. The Gigabyte , sweet. Great price, ordering #2 Friday. May swap the MSI board though, considering some added features. Antec 900 rebate is in!!! LOL. Thought they were gonna juke me on that one. Still need 2nd SATA optical drive, can't part with my old Lite-On, we go way back. If you noticed , it's not even hooked up. I tossed on a DIAMOND XtremeSound XS71 7.1 . Cheapy I know, but hey, sound seems much crisper, thats for sure, here we go , ready, camera, ACTIOn:

So far, the GPU is sick. The 790X flawless, just a solid system for all me needs.

Also finally did a 780G HTPC Biostar mobo, OCZ Gold, OCZ PSU, low profile undecided, picts soon.

    Peace, Penewah!
