    Best paid hosting site?

What's everyones favorite hosting website? I personally love www.bluehost.com . Great prices and EXCELLENT features along with award winning support easily wins my vote.

I used to have 1 and 1......what a friggin joke. Outsourced tech support barely able to understand or comprehend english dialect, lack of good USEFUL features, horrible support for domain transfers and the like, and no web based options to disable auto renew for domains are just a few of the problems i had with 1 and 1.

    Recommended Hosting so far:

    www.HostGator.com

    www.surpasshosting.com

    www.1and1.com

    www.exit56hosting.com

    www.asmallorange.com

    www.dreamhost.com

I use Surpass Hosting. They have all those features as well. I use them to resell though. Their technical support rocks. If I have issues, they have it squared away when I call.

I use 1and1 and have had zero problems with them in four years. When I have had to call tech support I always get people who speak so I can understand and fix the issue on the first call. They now have web based options to cancel options and domains which does make it much easier. The old methods were a PITA.

I buy domains at eNom and host at LunarPages. I've talked to support people for both on the phone (a real person answers!) and they've been competent and helpful.

Since we're in BFE Kentucky here I try to use someone local in case of problems.  You guys are all on the big names but one host here in KY does great for our site.  Exit 56 Hosting is the name.  www.exit56hosting.com is their website.  You should give them a look sometime.  Not too expensive and we have had nothing but great help from them every step of the way.

I'm pretty new to setting up stuff via FTP and doing web sites and all and these guys were great.

I'm very happy at asmallorange.com.  I had a free account at 1and1 which I thought was so bad that I never bothered using it.

My two favorites are Lunarpages and Dreamhost.

I enjoy long walks on the beach, kicking alien ass, saving all of humanity and still have enough time to go home and have dinner at night.

I use dreamhost and they are really awesome, the amount of options and features you get for $10 a month is outstanding and continue to grow as time passes.

I agree with this! Hostgator is quite awesome but I buy my domains at GoDaddy (I don't really care for 1 and 1)

    Re: Best paid hosting site?

I'll start with this, GoDaddy sucks. There are a few others I would never use. Use Google to research, type the name of the host and other keywords like "complaint" "problems" "sucks" and so on. Example; in Google type "Dreamhost complaints suck" and read the results, or use godaddy. This way you can see the trouble you might have.

There are a couple good hosts mentioned here, mine is Be The Host. Low prices and what others say is important, live customer support. If you call and they don't answer (rare), I'll leave a message and get a call back within minutes. Also they're available in Yahoo IM, I chat with the owner all the time. I've been with them about 2 years now and love their service. About 6 months ago I switched to a reseller account for a very low price.

I found them on another forum with a thread just like this. It was about 8:00pm when mher.org shut my account off with no warning and I needed to get my sites (and customers sites) up and running quick. I read the thread about BeTheHost.com and to test them I called to see if I'd get a person. Living in Hawaii I was 6 hours behind New Jersey so it was about 2:00am and they answered. I talked for about an hour and was sold.

I'm not saying they're the best, but they are rock solid and care about the customer. I get a free month for everyone that signs up using me as a reference and I've had about 6 people sign up so far but I don't take the credit. I'm just happy to see a honest company get ahead so I just refer people and tell them to forget the credit. SAME HERE, if you or anyone sign up because of me, don't give me credit, just enjoy their service.

I was with mher hosting, don't ever do that! They really suck. I also agree that 1 and 1 is a fricken joke, godaddy sucks and I've heard many bad things about dreamhost.

Another good host is NavigatorIS but their prices are a little bit high.

Take a long, hard look at pair.com .  I've been using their services for 10 years and have never had a single remotely negative experience.

    Re: Best paid hosting site?

I personally use 1and1 and they're pretty good, they aren't always the most helpful when I have contacted them for support issues however the plans are reasonably priced with a nice amount of space but could use more features. They're uptime is great, only once have I experienced downtime.

I register my domains with GoDaddy and host at WestHost.com or at home on my servers.  I've been using West Host for several years and have had great service from them.

    Re: Best paid hosting site?

I have been using 1and1.com for almost a year, and I have run into problems CONSTANTLY. For a cheap hosting provider, they're great for basic services (PHP, MySQL, uptime, that's it), but they fail at sites that generate a heavy load and most of their advertised services barely work, if at all (e.g. python has ZERO functionality on their servers). You get a TON of space, but that doesn't do you much good, seeing as how they automatically disconnect you from uploading after a certain amount of time (I generally get disconnected after 5 minutes precisely, and no, it's not my ISP).

If you ever want to host a website that is complicated and demanding or are a small business that depends on a quality server for your website, I highly recommend ValueTech.com. Sure, they're pricey, but trust me on this, you get MORE than what you pay for.

ValueTech is open to your needs and is very willing to customize your set up and give you a quote on what your needs are. I received individual attention from the owner when I had some problems or questions, and when he was unavailable, I had the pleasure of talking with ValueTech's highly knowledgeable technicians.

Their uptime is solid, performance is solid, and have INCREDIBLE speeds.

ValueTech.com is the way to go!

    Re: Best paid hosting site?

I publish on a friend's web-server that I help admin when needed/wanted, but I used to pay Toast.net of Ohio to host--  VERY solid terms of service agreement and extremely dependable.  I got turned on to them back when I was still using dialup.  They have an EXCELLENT free connection performance test, too.  My domain is registered through Active-Domain.com.  I also promote Churchquest for christian hosting services.
