For whatever its worth, i think the single core client just works better, and it seems as if all 4 of my cores are working even with the single core client?

I agree with you there TK but my quad is running 4-5.04 turning out about 1400-1600 ppd and when I get a good set of WUs I've turned out 3200+ ppd but I fold for 2 teams. Plus I've picked up a few tricks to increase the speed of folding and to get the better WUs.Cool

Whatever it works the best I persume, 4 separate 5.04 client version does earn you more WUs than SMP client.  I am still trying to figure out how to run 2 SMP client together, so far no luck.

So how long does it take to have your name appear on the team list?  I have probably finished a WU by now, but I have no points... and I'm not showing up on the team list.

Hey TK your name should appear after you complete your first WU but when you downloaded the F@H program you should have had a preference guide to fill out that asks for your Team # and your Name/handle if you did not get this or did not fill it out right you are folding as anonymous. Which unit did you download and for what OS?Yes

Too funny!  Shortly after finishing the first round of WUs for Team Egg, my mobo fried!  I'm a workin' on getting back on track but I have to come up with something for cpu cooling.  My Ninja doesn't jive with the mobo, yada yada, but I think I can bend this one thing and make it work.  Stock cooling on a D just ain't cuttin it...(don't laugh)

Ok TK your in luck that is the one I'm running but using XP. Go to your start box, then to programs, then to startup, go to fold@home and right click, select properties, on the target line you willtype at the end of the line a space,a dash- and then type configonly. Click on apply then ok then return to startup and left click on fold@home this will bring up your configuration page and you just follow the instructions name/handle, team # 70567 and so on down the road till you are finished then go back through to get to the target line and erase only what you typed in ( -configonly)leaving the rest of the line in tact then hit apply and ok then reboot and start fresh.Yes

I am actually wondering how you get more than one instance to run on a computer. I have 2 instances running right now and it looks like they're conflicting with each other.

    CPU - Intel Core 2 Duo E6750
    Mobo - Asus P5K-VM
    GPU - EVGA 8800GT 512 MB
    RAM - Geil 2 x 1GB DDR2-800
    HD - WDCaviar 400GB
    Optical - Asus 20X DVD-/+R w Lightscribe
    PWS - OCZ GXStream 700W
    Case - Thermaltake Lanbox Lite

    Re: Help A Great Cause . . . thanx justeric78 & re

Does Task Manager show them running correctly?  For easy numbers, say you have FAH set to run at 50%, are there 2 exe's running at about 25% each in TM?

    Re: Help A Great Cause . . . thanx justeric78 & re

Yeah they're both running at roughly 50% each. I had a look at this link here and got it to work properly. The problem was setting machine ID, both instances were registered under ID#1, so essentially the work being done was canceling itself out. Let the folding continue!

    Re: Help A Great Cause . . . thanx justeric78 & re

Way to go folks glad to here you got your problems solved and are folding away. Now for a few tips to allow you to fold a little faster and a little more, 1-you can select 100% utilization of your CPU this will still allow you to use as much of the cores as you need for programs you are running but when your not using the computer it allows F@H to use it all. 2-If you hit ctrl/alt/delete and bring up your task manager page you go to processes and then go to your FAHCORE then you right click and bringup a box that you go to set prority and then select below normal when you are using the computer or go to normal when your not using it this will speed things up.Cool

    Re: EggXpert Folding@Home Team

Just wanted to give all my fellow eggies a heads up that the nvidia gpu client will be out soon and runs on all cards supporting CUDA (8 series or newer). Early closed beta reviews show very impressive performance.

    http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/Nvidia-Stanford-Folding-Home,news-28478.html

"The unveiling of the client is set for the next week as part of the launch of Nvidia’s GT200 GPU series. Owning such a card will have its benefits in Folding@Home and will outrun Radeon 3870 cards. The new GeForce cards are expected to hit more than 650 nanoseconds of protein simulation in a single day, while the Radeon HD 3870 is stuck at about 170 ns. The Playstation 3 is able to produce "only" 100 ns of simulation, while a quad-core CPU creates an output of just four nanoseconds. For those who are keeping count: The GeForce GPU will be about 163 times faster than a quad-core processor in this specific application."
