ta790gxb with phenom II 940 combo

what a waste of money shipping second day air!!

after putting everything together the cpu fan won't turn on.

    check voltage between 4 pins connection, 1 & 2 no voltage, 1 & 3 and 1 & 4 does.(check by myself no tech support available)

make a return on this but waste my weekend and money to ship this!!!

I do not know the electrical layout of the CPU fan, but what voltages did you read on those pins that DID have voltage? 3.3, 5 or 12 Volts? Anything besides those would be problematic...

Does the fan spinup at all because part of me thinks you may not have a problem or there is some weird catch holding you up.

after putting everything back together and remeasure the voltage. i got power on 1&2 12v, 1 & 3 25v, 1&4 10v put the fan on still not spin.

I move to 3 pins fan connector and it works but the wires have to go on top of the fan.

so not sure what is wrong with the 4 pins fan connection!!!

The fan won't be turned on until the main board detects that the CPU is functioning.

Do you have an older CPU to try in the main board?

Do you have the 4/8 pin connector connected to the main board from the CPU?

Do you have the main board mounted to the standoffs or screwed directly to the case?

I have 4/8 pins connector and I connect 4 pins that said cpu to the motherboard. other 4 left blank.

I have it mount to the case.

Do you have an older CPU to try in the main board?

I change the fan connection to JNfan1 and boot everything work and install window no problem.

If its not mounted to these little doo-hickeys   then thats most likely your problem. If there not installed the main board will be short-circuiting to the main board.
