    Webcam compatible with Windows 7

After hours of frustration, I just decided to let go. I have went through 2 webcams and both are not supported by Windows 7. Can anybody recommend me a cheap webcam that would work with Windows 7? I am tired of buying and RMAing this stuff.

    Thank you.

Instead of RMAing them, did you try installing the software in compatibility mode?

    Reasons to get Windows 7:
    Snap to maximize windows
    Formatting huge hard drives
    It's Vista but better

The ASUS M4A78-E sucks, don't get it.

Unfortunately the installation hangs half way on Compatibility mode. I'm using a Hercules webcam btw.

    Any idea?

The model? Well, after the actual version of Windows 7 comes out you can complain for firmware support. Have you tried just plugging it in and letting Windows find the driver for you? Try using the XP/Vista firmware from the manf. website.

Re: Webcam compatible with Windows 7

Don't worry about it, I RMA'd it and I borrowed my friend's Logitech which works. I have tried letting Windows look for a driver no go. I was frustrated earlier and that's why I might have sounded like I was complaining. It was my fault that I bought it without researching. Lesson learned.

    Thanks for your help.

Re: Webcam compatible with Windows 7

I'm sorry I couldn't help more, the Microsoft Webcam that is made for the Xbox 360 should always work [you know how M$ puts their products first, then everyone else comes second :P]. It's not the greatest quality but people complain like crazy if a M$ product doesn't work with Windows.

Re: Webcam compatible with Windows 7

I have a Logitech webcam and it works very well in Windows 7 and the built-in Webcam also don't need special drivers for it.  sometimes XP driver can even do the trick. :-)
