Re: Power supply connectors in detail...

    thats a good find ^_^

now if there was a list of which exactly with dell models have a proprietary psu...

    that would be nice ^_^

Mammon slept. And the beast reborn spread over the earth and its numbers
grew legion. And they proclaimed the times and sacrificed crops unto the
fire, with the cunning of foxes. And they built a new world in their own
    image as promised by the
    sacred words, and spoke
of the beast with their children. Mammon awoke, and lo! it was
    naught but a follower.

Very nice reference, especially for newer builders!

This needs to be stickied, either here, or moved to the PSU part of the forum and stickied there...

    Pro....

Pardon my ignorance.   I think I know what a sticky is....but how does a post get a sticky?   (I've been to the FAQs ...and the circus).

Do folks just post a recommendation?

    Thanks

Re: Power supply connectors in detail...

You politely ask a MoD or Uber through PM to sticky a thread, one which is hopefully worth a sticky...They'll then check it out and review it too see if it is worthwhile...Normally, threads containing very helpful information or links to such information get a sticky, or get conglomerated into a list of helpful threads...Wink

Yep, that site is very in depth about a lot of common computer related topics. I've been looking it over for three days now and still haven't read everything. And so far, I haven't really found anything on it that would make me disagree with any real passion about what they've written.

I've used that exact site a time or two before.  Needed to get pinouts for the mobo connector.

Never thought to put it here.

    Yes

Have you tried turning it off and on again?

Re: Power supply connectors in detail.

Last year I bought the Antec 850 with the yellow racing stripe. Most of the negative feedback at the egg complained it would not power their high end video card. I blew it off and bought the Antec anyway and sure enough when I power up my gaming computer I get the error message about my ps being under rated and causing my 8800 GTX to run at below specs. Look at what the author says:

"If you're using a peripheral connector to PCI Express adapter then be sure to plug each of the adapter's peripheral connectors into a separate PSU cable. They gave you two peripheral connectors for a reason."

I used both pci e cables on the same line. I wonder if his advice will "solve" my problem.
