    Core 2 Quad Q9550 | E0 Stepping?

I'm just wondering if the Q9550 on Newegg is the newer E0 stepping. Or if it is not, or if I'm just going to have to rely on luck.

    Re: Core 2 Quad Q9550 | E0 Stepping?

Do you think my chances here are very good? I emailed Newegg and they said...

Generally, our stock moves so fast that we have the latest version or revision of everything. Unfortunately, we do not have a way to physically get our hands on our most current stock and tell you what revision we have at the moment. Also, we cannot tag a particular item for a particular order. We do not guarantee revision numbers unless it is specifically noted on the description on the website.

So, the Q9550 E0 revision says that it comes out on August 22? I probably won't be buying for a few months (2-3) and is that enough time for the stock to move out?

With Newegg? Yeah, probably. Although I don't know how popular the Q9550 is.

You may check from outside of the box. The S-Spec is SLB8V, then it's the E0 revision.

    Re: Core 2 Quad Q9550 | E0 Stepping?

So has anyone managed to get an E0 ver. of the Q9550 from NewEgg, or are they STILL shipping the old C1s?

I just ordered one yesterday (should be here tomorrow) and I'm hoping.......

    Re: Core 2 Quad Q9550 | E0 Stepping?

Let us know what you got. from all the online searches I have done, I couldn't find any one who got one of these, or a shop that sells the Q9550 with E0 stepping. looks like amzon.com out of the Q9550 and might be getting a new stock on the 28th. just waiting to see if they are getting the newer stepping

    Re: Core 2 Quad Q9550 | E0 Stepping?

This is what I am waiting on for my upgrade.   I could go elsewhere to guarantee that I get the E0 stepping, but the I'm not sure the cost difference would be worth it.

    Re: Core 2 Quad Q9550 | E0 Stepping?

There are some sites that guarantee the E0 version...

     http://www.tankguys.com/product_info.php?products_id=1829

Just $30 more than in newegg... If you really want the E0 version... its better to pay a bit more than to play with your luck in newegg.

    Re: Core 2 Quad Q9550 | E0 Stepping?

Are people getting E0 consistently now? I see several new reviews for the Q9550 but the last several reviewers did not say if they got E0 or C1.

I think a couple of reviewers said they got E0 last week but then a guy said he got C1 and he ordered on 10/2. So, what's going on now?

Could you guys that just got the processor in the last few days tell us whether it was E0 or C1 (SL8BV or SLAWQ)?? Thanks.

    Re: Core 2 Quad Q9550 | E0 Stepping?

I got mine from amazon.com at it was a C1. Amazon.com said they are geting a new order, but I guess intel still have plenty of C1 steping in there stock too.

    Re: Core 2 Quad Q9550 | E0 Stepping?

I bought one on 10-22-08...... came today.... still C1

Who ever packed it is a moron.... I bought it to sell it to someone else.... but some dumb newegg employee put togheter the CPU and the Assasins Creed free game togheter using TAPE! I couldnt take the tape out without ripping some of the Q9550 label. It just makes me mad cause doing it right takes about 2 seconds more.

DieDie [die] Re: Core 2 Quad Q9550 | E0 Stepping?

Got mine today (10/30) from a Monday order (10/27), and it was SLAWQ C1 stepping.  Pack date on the box was 09/24/08.  So, if anyone is getting E0s from the Egg, it definitely looks like a hit and miss situation where you're going to have to rely on total luck.

Just thought I'd let you guys know.

Great, because when I want to spend 300+ dollars, I like to play guessing games.

Can anyone outline the specific differences between C1 and E0? I've read that you can clock E0 higher, but C1 is faster clock-for-clock, which means it doesn't matter.

Yes? No? Does it matter? At all?
