Trying to fix a friend's mom's eMachines T6520 and ran into a ton of hardware issues, and most information available suggests it is the power supply.  I need to know what kind of power supply to buy, but cannot find ANY information on the kind already in it, and don't know enough about PSUs to just walk into a store and pick one out.  Here is the eMachines site:

If this is as simple as taking the current power supply out and examining it, basic instructions on doing so would be very helpful--I have minimal hardware experience (mainly switching out memory, cards, etc.) but I'm very cautious as far as static and force.

If you haven't tried e-mailing the technical support, I would start there.

If that doesn't work then you should be able to just look up the hardware it powered to find the connector types they require.  Its not a very power intensive system so you shouldn't worry too much about buying a psu that cant support it.

eMachine has really poor documentation on their website. It looks like they have no budget maintaining their website so it looks like you won't have any luck any finding that info online.

What you can do is check the power supply physically and see who made it or what kind of power supply it is

you should be able to open the side of the case by removing a couple of screws, then looking near the back of the case for a big box usually mounted on top. there will usually be a sticker on that with more info. if you need to take it out, then there are probably some screws on the back of the PSU keeping it attached to the case. just remove these and the PSU will fall out. don't lose any screws lol.
