Hey everyone,

Ive been checking out the forums for a month or two now. Originally, I was thinking about building a computer, but I dont feel my technical abilities and research skills are up to the task. Now I'm considering just upgrading my current computer (an old HP Pavillion a265c). I would like to upgrade so I can play new games. I think I will need more memory and a new video card, but Im not sure what to look for. Can anyone make any suggestions as far as what else I should look to upgrade or what kinds of video cards and memory I should be looking for?

The only video card on the AGP would probably be an HD3850 that'll handle todays harder app resource intense games. And those really arent the best compared with PCIE cards. PC2700 is PC2700, more will do you better, for sure. But the specs say 4 x 512MB ? Might was well keep the 2 x 256 you got and get a 1024 kit.

 I'd build though, not sure what the barrier is.

Agreed with Pen that would be the only real logical choice besides BYO.

It's your best bet Ender. You'll pay a premium on the upgrades, when that money could be put towards a new box. I always tell people, see what you can get for the old OEM. You'd be surprised, there's allot of people out there who are willing to cough up some serious dough for "what once was" a decent OEM, when new. It only adds to the overall $$$ that could go to a new rig.

Best advice in the world, bar none, in the Eggxpert. Save for that Pene-hack! LOL.
