The Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty Professional was released this year. the Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeGamer Fatal1ty Professional was released last year. As long as you do not have Vista 64bit then you will be fine. Both cards do not support 64bit OS. Also the motherboard that you are showing does not have a PCI-E X1 slot on it, only 4 PCI-E X16 and 2 PCI slots. And if you are running SLI with big cards that take up 2 slots you will not be able to get the PCI one in there either.

Re: Need some help. stuck between two sounds cards

    actually all pci-e x1 devices can work in pci-e x 4, 8, or 16 slots

so I would get the newer card

sorry I didn't catch this post sooner hopefully it's not too late, both cards should work great anyways.

NP. I would not have known that either if I didn't research pci express so much when deciding to hold off on an agp build and waiting to build my sli rig. It is not exactly something that comes up often.

Re: Need some help. stuck between two sounds cards

Okay so besides the pci/pci express slot issue. Which sound card would acutaly be better for gaming? I know you mention to get the newer one... but is that the better one?

Re: Need some help. stuck between two sounds cards

well I won't claim to be a sound guru. As far as I am concerned anything more than onboard sounds is a waste of money that could be spent on a faster proc or gpu.

but from looking around then net a bit it sounds that the newer titanium card is better

"In our tests, the biggest thing that stuck out to our ears was that the audio coming from the newer X-Fi model was noticeably 'crisper' and 'richer' than even the older X-Fi. Additionally, the 5.1 channel separation was MUCH more defined and immersive. We can't wait to try it out on a 7.1 channel system as soon as possible.

With that and the additional features that EAX, the Crystalizer, and the inclusion of Dolby Digital Live provide, it is hard not to recommend this card to gamers looking for the most immersive audio experience possible. "
