    Stupid IE 7

Looking for help from a kind soul.

So, for years I have scoffed Internet Explorer, and have favored Mozilla, or more properly Firefox. Love Firefox, it rocks, never lets anything through the fence.

But, I want to use the instant view Netflix, you know, you can watch the movie right now over the internet. Well, don't you know, it will only go with internet explorer.

Now when I say I favor Firefox, I mean I have NEVER ran Internet Explorer (on purpose) on this computer. So when I go to fire it up, the system boots IE7, but gets stuck on "Connecting..." and never gets past there.

I tried unistall/reinstall, even tried installing the beta "Silverlight" no luck. Messed with all sorts of settings, no luck. Firefox is working with no hitch, so obviously the LAN to the Mobo is solid...

    Any suggestions?

    Re: Stupid IE 7

I use FF(3) for all my surfing and I use IE7 for MLB.com no real reason why. I have used IE7 on here for Netfilx many times

Do you have IE for windows turned on.

To look go under add/remove programs then look under add/remove Windows Components and make sure Internet Explorer is checked. If not check it then try again.

Then make sure IE is "Enable" under Set Program access and Defults.

Or skip Internet Explorer all together: http://www.download.com/IE-Tab/3000-11745_4-10470729.html?tag=lst-1&cdlPid=10857614

Basically makes webpages think you're running IE when you're running Firefox. With this, I'm even able to do Windows Update in Firefox.

    Re: Stupid IE 7

    Thanks for the replies.

I installed the add-on, but it does not seem to be working. Netflix still tells me I need to run IE7.

Also, still no luck in getting IE7 to run.

    **Update**

Check that I think I have the IE tab working now. But, if anyone has any further suggestions on the issue with IE7, I would like to solve that some day.

    Re: Stupid IE 7

You want to check the LAN settings under the connection tab in Internet Options. There may be some sort of proxy settings that internet explorer is using. Also sometimes Norton Internet Security messes with Internet Explorer. I remember I had to uninstall Internet Security when it messed up because it was interfering with IE.

    Re: Stupid IE 7

I don't have Norton. I use AVG. I tried going to exceptions and adding IE from the Program Files folder, but no luck. I have tried everything in LAN settings, and connection Wizard no dice. The real cunfunder is that the internet works no problem on Firefox, automatic updater and everything else, but IE7.

Otherwise, the add-on seems to be doing all necessary for Firefox.
