    Re: NY Sales Tax Collection

If I've Not heard a Change of Policy (refusing to collect as a california NOT NY company, dumping affiliates, or joining the lawsuit) by Newegg in the direction of Helping it's NY Customers by the close of Business tomorrow.. it's:

     http://www.techonweb.com/

Very Disappointed Newegg has Sacrificed us without even a Peep! And I hope other NYers take their business elsewhere for the reason of Price and that Newgg didn't even lift a finger.. letting Amazon and Overstock do all the work.

Sorry it had to end like this.

    NICE! You *GO* unmarc! You're a one-man Newegg-threatening MACHINE! :D

Way to get your point across in a forceful manner! I'm sure Newegg's management is all a-twitter over your opinions and will change their policies soon!

As a New York resident, the tax doesn't bother me..   If you've got a problem with it, write to the people you helped vote into office (or at least, didn't vote against them)

Me too, it's pretty sad how the people depend on companies to protect their freedoms and make (or break) the laws that govern the people. Crying Shame on America.

    You just lost a customer!

If your first priority are the affiliates, rather than the consumers, then this is where we have to part our ways, Newegg.

I am also going to encourage my friends and associates in NY to discontinue your service. You're not the only online retailer for computer accessories.

Don't get me wrong, I've received excellent service from you over the years, but all you had to do was break ties with your affiliates, and you wouldn't have to burden your NY customers with this unlawful sales tax.

businesses that don't advertise their presence in New York don't have to make their customers pay sales tax.

I'm curious to know what kind of affiliates Newegg actually has in NY.

This could easily be avoided by getting rid of them.

don't you mean how it's pretty sad that companies have to depend on government to protect their profits?

this whole nonsense started with book retailers not being able to compete with online e-tailers. they should've just followed a better business model. that's the essence of capitalism.. consumers should have the freedom to buy their products from anywhere they wish without having the gov't sticking its rotten hand in our wallets.

this is one of the many reasons why i never vote democrat. they think they can solve their problems by throwing money at it. they must be disciplined.

    Re: NY Sales Tax Collection

Cool I have found a new home at Chiefvalue, and maybe so be part of newegg. All I know it is truely sad that newegg in my book has fallen so quickly, even the shipping I've noticed is a whole lot more than on other sites. Thought I'd never say that Newegg has turned into a big rip-off. An example was with a Themaltake case I was looking at, where on Newegg the shipping was almost 20 Bucks. On Mwave it was 13 bucks (same carrier/delivery) and you didn't have to pay any tax either. So Newegg is not looking like the Golden Egg it use to be. Lets face it people, the item you order isn't the only thing riding on these trucks, no reason for the shipping to sky-rocket like it has. Just plain greed, everyone cashing in on the price of fuel. Going up a bit is understandable but not like this. GREED, the greed of New York, and of all parties to just plain cash in. NY has grossly mis-managed the state and now it's people have to pay for their mistakes.

Re: You just lost a customer!

I've been purchasing 95% of my PC equipments from Newegg since 2001 and I guess they don't care what customer thinks and feel.

I am sure many Newegg customers in NY will be doing the same thing: Buying elsewhere.

Newegg, you just lost another regular customer.  I will be back when you stop taxing NY residents.

( Sorry Newegg, I was planning to purchase $2,500.00 PC equipment from you, guess what... )

Re: You just lost a customer!

Honestly if you've taken any simple economics class you know how the government works and why taxes are enforced. Yes, it may suck to have to pay them, but its taxes that pay for many things that you take for granted every single day. Just deal with the taxes and move on, there are plenty of places that don't charge tax but their customer service isn't half as good as Newegg's. Its worth it, especially in the computer field, to have good customer service. Newegg, your doing great, and there are plenty of us that will stay loyal to a great company.

Lets face it people, the item you order isn't the only thing riding on these trucks, no reason for the shipping to sky-rocket like it has.

The thing that kills me is the shipping rates for small stuff. And the fact they charge per item.

I was looking for a molex to sata adapter. Startech makes one. Newegg carries it too- for 50% over Startech's list price. And then they tack on $6.99 shipping for something half the size of a book of matches.

I priced short sata cables newegg- the shipping for 10 of them would have cost me $22. What would it have weighed? A half pound at most?

    Give me a break.

Maybe it's worth $20 bucks to ship a case, but they are ripping people off on the smaller stuff.

There is no reason reason they can't put small items in a padded envelope and send them USPS. And if you're ordering multiples of the same item there should be one flat rate, not a per item charge.

Obviously, overcharging on shipping has become a new cash cow for newegg.

Too bad. But a lot of have turned elsewhere for parts because of this.

    Regards,

    Candice in PA

    Re: NY Sales Tax Collection

Though shipping seems to be alot, I have noticed even when going into the UPS store, that shipping is utterly ridiculous right now, mainly due to surcharges and other charges for gas, because of the overwhelming gas prices. Newegg also has UPS employees on site.

yeah bro,,,and if that ain't enough i got a whole herd of 'em,,,,,,,,and here's somethin for those out there that think the grass is greener shopping elsewhere,,,,,,,,,,,and to be quite honest i havn't found the shipping elsewhere to be much cheaper than the Egg,,,and the cust. service is nowhere good as the Egg,,,so carry on dissatisfied New Yorkers,,,take it up with your state govt.,,,or, better yet, move to a state that you don't have to have an annual salary of $90,000 just to be able to go to Mickie Ds once a week for a burger,,,,jmoa tho,,,,have a nice day,,,,

OK, as Requested, Thread Locked due to uselessness of "debate".

NYC'ers, vote your politicians out or pay ur tax, or just don't shop the Egg.

Ppl who don't like shipping prices can go to a store and pay retail.
