Another noob question but they are helping me.

    Ok here goes.

In order to get T.V. on my PC I am adding a DIAMOND ATI TV Wonder HD 650 Combo TVW650PCIE PCI-Express x1 Interface card to my PC.

Do I run the cable line from my HD cable box to the antenna connection on the Diamond card or do I run the cable line to the T.V connection on the Diamond card? Or  I am I totally off, if so can some explain how I get t.v on my pc using this card and a cable box.

And also I am running Vista Premuim. Is Premium ok or should I install Ultimate?

    Thanks Mike

hey Mike, you run the cable line right to the TV tuner. An antenna doesnt work good.....frankly an antenna is awful (form my experience) so yes, run the cable line right in. I dont think the line has to come form the cable box, like it could be another unused cable line.

There's only one input for cable TV for TVW650PCIEble (TV in) and that hooks up to your wall jack (feed from your cable company).   Install the card, load the drivers, reboot and run MCE.  You should be able to tune to the basic analog channels (1~99) and some other unencrypted QAM modulated digital channels.

hmm so u dont need a cable box?

But what if I do run line from cable box into T.V. in on card will I get all my channels then from the box?

I am trying to get every channel I have on my cable box on my PC tuner card..Is that possible?

I have been reading and noticed that alot of people say you cant record a Hd channel while watching a different anolog channel, is that true?

Is it worth buying 2 T.V. tuner cards to install in same PC?

    mikeSI:

Not for analog channels and clear QAM channels.

Yes and no.  Running from the cable box you will get 1 channel, whatever channel the cable box is on.  Also HD channels will not come across in HD size.

I am not sure about all the premium channels but yes with a caveat or 2 limiting what you can do.

Depends on the tuner and if it has 1or 2 inputs.  Or if you have multiple tuners you would not have that issue either.

It depends on what you do.  I actually have 3 tuners in my htpc and 2 are dual tuner cards.
