Ok, so you've heard us talk a little about the Newegg Video Contest to make your own Newegg commercial, and may have even seen a few of the actual video submissions hosted on the contest landing page. Well here's a bigger taste for you. Fresh off the Egg grill - from users just like you - we've got a handful of video entries right here for your viewing pleasure. 

If you've been toying with the idea of submitting your own vid, we've got good news for you: the submission deadline has been extended out to May 25th! This means there's still time to dust off your camcorder & director's chair to shoot your very own Newegg.com commercial!  Jas0n wanted to add a little incentive to encourage the EggXpert community to participate.  Each Xpert video entrant will score a couple of Egg-goodies simply for participating in the contest.  Just send us your customer number & Video Title once it's submitted, and we'll do the rest! 

Let's show them that EggXperts are a force to be reckoned with!

wow...so many videos. Quite appreciate the first four ones. Especially the first one is quite funny. and the forth one has the best show why we love newegg so much. Interesting! Cant wait to know who is the winner in this video contest.

A fellow Xpert asked a really great question regarding the rules of this contest & we think it would benefit the community to post-up the question & answer for everyone to read. Hopefully, this user won't mind!

user question (excerpt):

Am I correct to believe that any video that shows the company name, product name, image of product, logo of company, etc other than newegg will automatically be disqualified? From what I read in the rules a lot of the previous entries will be disqualified.

   "11. It must not contain any commercial content that promotes any product or service 
    or contain or reference any third party names (including but not limited to URLs 
    or hyperlinks), logos, service marks or trademarks, trade names or trade dress..."

Thank you for you recent inquiry about Newegg's First Video Contest!

 

In reference to your question about video eligibility, all entries posted of previously submitted videos have been deemed eligible at this point. While one needs to be cautious of product placement or brand mention, we realize using some product shots of our vendors and partners may be unavoidable (in cases such as shots presenting our site pages etc.). Videos should not mention or highlight any other brands/logos etc. Please use your judgment in this case.

 

The total length of the video can be anything between 30 and 60 seconds including. There is no discrimination based on video length as long as it is within the described range.

 

Have fun making your video, we are looking forward to seeing it soon!

This contest is really cool. I like most of the videos, some of them seem like "tutorials" on how to use newegg though... I really like Ben Hundley's so far!  It's pretty much TV ready!  Great job, and cool post.

I hope you do end up submitting one MagicMissle.   Anyone else planning on pulling the camcorder out of the closet to give the contest a shot? I would, but EggStaff entries are disqualified. ::grr:: ;)

It would definitely be gratifying if someone from Xpert wins this though!

Hey ning I submitted my video about a week ago and once again a couple days ago. Both submissions said "successfully uploaded" but I didn't receive any conformation via e-mail (which I assume I would have). Do you think the contest department has my video?

Hey avashun4me, reply back to me via PM with your Video Title & user name & I'll check for you on Tuesday (once everyone is back from the 3-day holiday).  There was another member who didn't receive a confirmation email either (I don't even know if there is suppose to be a confirmation e-mail), but when I checked for him, his video was in our system.

I originally had the same problems...both with uploading the video and not getting confirmation. For the video not uploading properly all I did was re-render it as .wmv format instead of mpeg and it went through fine. This will lower the video size which might be part of the problem. As for the confirmation, as long as it says "video submitted successfully" after uploading, you're gtg.
