Re: What kind of camera are you using?
I have a: Nikon F3 - professional grade 35mm SLR
Nikkor D series 24-120mm f3.5-5.6 lens Nikon SB-12 Speedlight flash Good ole professional grade Nikon. Robust and reliable. I would love to have a Nikon D80 or D100 digi SLR, but I have nowhere near the money to get one.
I am: an AMD fiend an nVidia fiend a Nikon fiend an amateur photographer a zealous Descent pilot a zealous Freespace pilot a scuba diver-to-be, and more.

Re: What kind of camera are you using?
Thanks for the PhotoSynth link! I had seen a short preview of it but this was the first chance that I have got to play with it hands on. This is highly recommended for anyone to check out (that is if your system can handle it). Very cool stuff.

Re: What kind of camera are you using?
I am using a Canon S3-IS and its a pretty good camera for my first next I will be getting a Canon digital Rebel XTi 10.1 mega pixel.
Now thats a camera......The S3 was a good learning camera for me. Had alot of decent features as well as 6.0 mega pixels....it took decent photos on large, superfine picture mode. Average pic size on finest mode was around 5.33 mb depending on F-stop and the picture itself.
Shooting in RAW is the way to go my camera only seems to shoot jpeg and sometimes it can be converted to TIFF with the right software!!

Re: What kind of camera are you using?
Nikon D-50, not too expensive and not overly big but excellent results.
Thay have now replaced the D-50 with the D-40 which is a far less capabile camera.

The D40 is not less capable in any way. The only differences between the D50 and D40 are the weight and size of the screen. The D40 is a little lighter and has a 2.5" rather than 2" LCD. I've done my homework.

qingcai:dslr is fun
I'd second that. :) Personal cameras are Nikon D50, D80, and Olympus stylus 410d with underwater enclosure. My work camera is a Nikon D200.

Actually you haven't. D40 does not have many of the features of the D50 such as Exposure bracketing, White balance Bracketing, and the ability to use Non-AFS lenses. The D40 does not have the focus motor built into the camera so older AF lenses have to be focus manually. The D40 battery is also a nonstandard battery for Nikons DSLR line of cameras. The D40 also does not have the top LQD which displays settings for the camera, this is due to the LCD on the back being used at all times to display/change settings. This does shorten battery life according to my friend who owns the D40. The D40 uses a slightly newer 6mpixel CCD which is known to produce slightly more noise than the CCD used in the D50. Re: What kind of camera are you using?
ashakeandfrys:dslr seems like a huge jump from a point and shoot! haha
It is, but it's the most wonderful jump you'll ever make. Don't get me wrong, i still have my little point and shoot for the little goofy things. i bought an underwater enclosure for my point and shoot for diving. why ruin a nice camera when you can take a chance on one that sells for under $100 on ebay. :) Best place to learn is www.bythom.com for nikon users.

Started with a Little C 653, to Z 885 to this Bad Little Puppy, Love it and so do my Friends.
