    Re: Metal

    Hmmm...where to begin....

I wonder if some of these anyone else listens to anymore?

Iron Maiden, Cult, BLS, Megadeth, Pantera, Motorhead, Joe Stump, Gary Hoey, Ronnie Montrose, Apocalyptica, Dio, Judas Priest, Metallica, Hammerfall, more I can't think of. (real tired)

Once it starts getting heavier than Pantera (which I still think I technically shouldn't like) I start wincing. There is music, then there is screaming and a lot of noise. (opinion) I like powerful, heavy music for sure, but that? Sorry, no deal.

    Re: Metal

    Yes Amen brother!

Some "death metal" can be pretty good though, if I'm in the right kinda mood, but I still require it to be music, not just garbled screaming and poor sounding, very fast moves on the instruments.

    Re: Metal

I love metal! And it doesn't hurt that my roommate is a metal guitarist and is slowly teaching me to shred like him! He's introduced me to bands I never listened to before, but I love Metallica, Megadeth, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, early Black Sabbath (pre Sabbath, Bloody Sabbath), Led Zeppelin (though can you really consider them metal?), Rammstein, Megaherz (similar to Rammstein)

Alright, so obviously my favorite band is SlipknotGuitarDevil, but I was wondering if any of you guys/gals have heard/listen to Mastadon?

For those of you that have not, I recommend them.

    Re: Metal

Argh! So many misconceptions about what metal is and isn't. Slipknot, Korn, Disturbed, SOAD etc... ARE NOT METAL, they are hard/alternative/nu-metal(not metal a crossover genre of hard rock and rap). And neither are a7x, As I lay dying etc.. they are metalcore, a crossover genre, but not true metal.

    (End purist rant)

Anyway, I listen to mostly black/death(mostly technical death metal)/power metal including:

    Cryptopsy

    Gogoroth

    Behemoth

    Belphegor

    Suffocation

    Nile

    Necrophagist

    Decapitated

    Emperor

    Dimmu Borgir

    Children of Bodom

    Gorguts

    Spawn of Possesion

    Marduk

    Infernal War

    Dragonforce

    Rhapsody

    Dream Theater

    Opeth

    Symphony X

    Blind Gaurdian

    Demons and Wizards

    Slayer

    Old Metallica

     Black Sabbath

    Iron Maiden

The reason i listen to primarily technical death metal is because many death metal bands only concentrate on being "omfg br00000tal" and lose sight of what death metal was originally meant to be; complex and intense, not just a mess of screaming and sloppy riffs.
