You can also post up your own thoughts BUT THIS IS NOT A DEBATE THREAD. You will be modd'ed if you try to start something or if you can't be civil (i.e. try to get around the filters). By all means debate at your hearts content in the Official thread. Your thoughts should be addressed to newegg. Please do not give your "two cents" to someone elses post.

In fact, please start your post with "Dear Newegg,"

    Dear Santa, Wink

I like the idea I had previously, that anyone paying with Paypal through the 28th should receive 20% off, OR the same amount of discount as they'd have received on the qualifying order (whichever is less) on the next order of their choosing, given a reasonable time period to redeem that discount.

By doing this it reduces the impact on Newegg as the total discount is  up to 10%, as <= 20% divided by two purchases.    Another option might be a 10% discount on each of two future orders but to be fair the time period to redeem, for two orders instead of one, ought to be longer.

Even more satisfying would be a way to make those who had wanted to get in on this offer but had waited because they didn't have a chance to jump on it in the first few hours (thinking they had until the 28th) not feel left out would be to receive 10% off (up to same $50 limit) on their next order.  The logistics of determining who qualifies to be in this group seems difficult, perhaps those who had subscribed to the newsletter and had an existing paypal account, if Paypal would work with you in determining the latter, or at least some lesser discount amount if it makes the number of participants too large to offer 10% (but IMO, 10% is not much as often the promo coupon codes discount far more than 10%).

    Re: Black Monday Poll

First of all, I want to express my appreciation for Newegg trying to provide a solution with their customers.  This is a very difficult situation and they are definitely taking a financial hit in the name of customer service.

However, that being said, I must disagree with the statement that the offer was pulled at 2:30 pm.  My order was timed at 5:58 pm so of course I am still missing out on my $50, but my point is I accessed the website through the email I had received and there was no banner across the offer like there is now saying the offer had expired (I'm talking the website, not the email).  Besides that, I had monitored the website directly (not through the email) probably a half dozen times that afternoon and never saw anything of the sorts

It was several days before I accidentally stumbled across this whole controversy; otherwise I would have had no idea I wasn't going to get the $50 back (my order was for $309.99).  It was for a monitor which I received several days later.  I left if unopened thinking I could take it back to UPS to refuse shipment, but in a PM a Newegg adminstrator advised me to "open it up and use it."  This is for a newbuild and I don't have all the components yet but I did want to plug it in to ensure it at least was operable.

Now that it appears I won't get the $50 back I would like to return the monitor as the extra $50 back was the main driver for buying it in the first place.  I would think it would be good cutomer PR to in cases similar to this to at least allow a full refund without return shipping charges or a re-stocking fee.  In addition, a further good gesture would be a smaller % off coupon or something of the sorts for use on a future purchase.

I have made quite a few purchases from Newegg but as things currently stand this has left me with a bad taste in my mouth.  That could be reversed if my suggestion above were implemented.

    Re: Black Monday Poll

This thread is going to be kind of redundant.

As I said, the 3-hour window solution is very minimalist. It was the very least they could have done.

To take over a week to come up with a no-brainer was just as bad as the cascade of errors and confusion that happened that day in the first place.

This will remain a black eye on NE's face with this
    lackadaisical answer.

I would honor all 11/26 PP sales.

You don't HAVE to reply in here, but I'd appreciate your vote. I'm curious on everyone's thoughts. But now I'm going against my own rules by commenting on another poster's post.

    Please keep them coming!

    Re: Black Monday Poll

Oh, yes, I did vote too. :-)

    No/Could have done better.

I think that "we'll honor a 3 hour window" is something one announces before the end of the business day on 11/26. Not after 8 days of prolonged customer confusion during a time-sensitive shopping season.

Leadership fails for either not leading, or for being cheap. They can take their pick.

    Re: Black Monday Poll

I'm voting in favor of the Egg on this one.  I researched the offer at PayPal and ordered a small item in the early morning.  Not surprisingly, this offer was over when I went to order an LCD panel later that night (7:30PM EST -> 4:30PM PST).  The banner indicated it was over, PayPal told you it could be, Newegg was no longer listed on the PayPal sweepstakes page, etc...  Newegg clearly went an extra yard to pick up the tab for people caught in the "gray area" up to 5PM (that's 5 hours after the initially stated 12PM expiration).

    Thank you Newegg.

IMO Newegg is still the best online vendor for my electric parts. Their service is the main reason I go back again and again.

    Re: Black Monday Poll

It is good to see that many users felt that Newegg did a fair / good job with the sales this holiday season.

I know it is hard for them to discount items more then they already do

    Re: Black Monday Poll

I'm posting here as opposed to the official Paypal thread because I didn't get a chance to order that day. And because of that I voted No/Horrible.
I hadn't seen any fine print in the email suggesting a limited quantity and/or limited time.
I really thought I could come home school and work, sit down at 11pm and buy a new Xbox360 with an extra controler and get the 50$ rebate as gift to myself for having been a good boy this year.Angry
