Re: how much have you overclocked your processor
Ok I'll check that out, nVidia control says about the same temps as TAT does. Thats on a fresh boot though so no load. It goes up to about 45-50 on full load. Still not that bad for air but thanks I'll look at the link u gave me.

I don't expect you will either.
Q6600 multi run from 6 - 9 unless you get your hands on an ES. You can't get that at ClubIt! Read this thread.
Griff017:Well check back every day at clubit once in the morning and once in the evening. Dont worry about the auto-notify feature as i just bought my Q6600 from them and they were sold out when i first went to buy it. I checked the auto-notify, and then looked back the next day and they had them in stock again. Point being, the auto-notfiy didnt notifty me until 2 days until after they had them in stock.

mikeduffy13:@LiquidFusion - use CoreTemp http://www.alcpu.com/CoreTemp/ to see what your actual core temps are. I'm willing to bet your core temps are around 8-10C higher than that.
Well... Thats after being on for about 5 hours. Im telling you the Enzotech is a beast, it seems like not alot of people even know about it though. I can post an onload if you want. This is also a closed case with no side vent (p180b)

I definatley haven't heard about this so-called Enzotech that you speak of - lol. That's awesome that your idle temps are so low. Run Prime for a bit and check the temps, I'm curious to see what they come out as.

That OC is obviously not obtainable with Water or Air. Probably totally FAKE. The highest I have heard on air is 3.9Ghz and about 4.1 on water. You really will not achieve much higher unless you are using nitrogen for liquid cooling as well as other cooling features for north bridge and RAM and etc....

Nope, If you check back through his posts you'll see that he is just buying his system so I find it unlikely. A G0 stepping, retail or OEM, won't do it. IF on the other-hand he had an "engineering sample" it is possible but again highly unlikely that 4.5 could be had w/o extreme cooling.
As I quoted before he bought from ClubIT recently. I pre-ordered from ClubIT back when the G0 stepping was released. If you check this thread you'll see my max OC, @3.8. 3.2 is best for me at this time, temps, timings and stability. I plan to lap the chip, volt mod the board, (terrible v-droop) and WC the NB when I have time. My bios currently does not have voltage options for NB, SB so with this board if I get 3.4 stable I'd be thrilled.
4.7? 11 multi??? No, not, no way, not happening w/ a ClubIT chip. Nitro or not. The G0 step retail or OEM multipliers are between 6 and 9......

Re: how much have you overclocked your processor
I still don't believe a unlocked Q6600 would do that. And even if it was nitro cooled... it is very temperary and usually these people blow there system within mintes.
I remmeber when a engineering sample was able to do 3.6Ghz before the Q6600 was released and everyone said... the retail version will never do it. I really don't believe there is "that" much of a difference between retail and engineering sample (maybe 300Mhz).
What mobo are you using? I think it is your mobo which is preventing you. Today... it is not that needed to lap CPU's and heatsinks. I don't think you will gain to much in performance... (I don't think you will hit 3.4... maybe 3.25). Just be happy wiht what you have.
What mobo do you have? There use to be a HUGE Vdrop problem with my ABit Mobo... not only was there a huge drop but it was never stable... the new bios has made it very stable and but i still have a large Vdrop... no big deal.
Make sure you have the latest bios for your computer.

Josh, I know I can make 3.4. CPUz 3.8 good enough? Here is 3.4. Running prime @ 3.4 I'll get a "hardware failure" after a while and believe I can cure this w/ more stable voltage. My bios has no options for the NB / SB vcores, mobo in sig, it's MATX w/ onboard vid, disabled mind you but with the vdroop I think the NB and SB that run auto are also affected. The Vdroop is between .15 and .175, the amount of droop is not the problem, I think it is the fluxuation. I have a volt mod that should help, I don't know but we shall see. As to lapping my chip??? I lap all my chips (5 running in my house now, and I fleabayed 3 or 4) after a few weeks testing, I generally see 5 degrees C or more improvement over stock, my E6600 was so concave it could have been used to take cough medicine. 10c difference! The Quad is better but I'm thinking It should even out a bit as well as lower the temps.

Re: how much have you overclocked your processor
Got my e6600 to run Orthos stable at 3.6ghz on b3 stepping (air cooled) but the temps were nearing 40c idel and 60 on load so I dropped it back down to 3.4 and temps went way down. Not a big dif from 3.4 to 3.6 to make me keep it so Im happy at 3.4

My system is in my sig, a Q6600 @3.2Ghz. Can't seem to get it much higher without pouring on a lot of voltage, so I think this is a pretty comfortable overclock for me.

We're in the same boat, I booted and ran @3.8 but the voltage was ridiculous. I think a volt mod would help for you as well, Asus has the worst vdroop I've seen yet. What do you use for cooling and how are your temps?

I can get my X6800 from 2.93 to 3.74 using a multiplier of 14 and upping the vcore voltage to 1.54. I did this both on a Striker 680i and my present Asus P5E X38 mother board. I apparently do not have permission to uplaod a screenshot of my CPUz CPU Tab.

I use a Zalman 9700 which lets me idle about 30c and 51c at load. The voltage is at1.3500v in BIOS, CPU-Z shows it as 1.304v. I'm pretty sure I can get the voltage a bit lower I just haven't had time to f**l with it. The highest prime stable OC I've gotten is 3.5Ghz (390x9), but it took 1.5v to get there. For me thats just too much juice. I got to 3.6Ghz (401x9) but I got Prime errors after a couple hours (still at 1.5v). Apparently, this board (not sure if its all ASUS, or all P965, or just this individual board) has trouble with FSB from 360-400. Anything below and above is fine. My trial & error in OC'ing seems to bear this out and its why I've stopped at 3.2Ghz (358x9) for now. When I get some more free time I will experiment with 400+ FSB (possibly dropping the multiplier) and see how it holds up. It just takes so much time :D

If your interested head to http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/ and look around, this topic is discussed frequently. My commando is the 965 and too have seen the fsb difficulties, IIRC from my reading it has to do w/ the memory strap.

Re: how much have you overclocked your processor
Ok, wanted to sum something up for everyone, I have been reading a bunch lately and everything that I have read has been telling me this, "vdroop" is prevelent in c2d and c2q's and if your running your voltage at 1.5v your actually giving your cpu a voltage of -.4v and I have been testing it for 2 boards so if you think that 1.5v is too much your ver mistaken 1.5v in bios is actually 1.46v and that is nothing for the new intel cpu's, coming from someone that overclocks all the time and have been doing it for about 15 yrs, my advice would be to never go above 1.52-1.53v, if you never go above that your overclocked temps will never get above 50c which is awesome considering the thershold of the cpu is 72c, in other words find a voltage for you cpu so that your cpu never goes above 55c and the cpu will last a lifetime, with a 60c normal load temp with stock hsf I think that should sum it up. newegg has a sale on tuniq tower 120 for 45 bucks shipped and believe i have had a my cpu running all day at 1.55v with that and I never get over 60c,

Re: how much have you overclocked your processor
Of course it is fake. It took me about 2 minutes to make with Paint. I am very surprised no one has spotted that the Bus Speed is way off. Also the shot says that it is a G0 revision which, as someone stated, can not go up to 11 only the ES revision has a unlocked multiplier. Anyways sorry boys, :(.
