    Mew's trading post

Okay guys here's the deal. My cpu was overheating burned out and I'm pretty sure it ruined the socket and the motherboard as well, because the pins on the cpu are all charred looking. I need a replacement but sadly I can't use EBay because I don't have PayPal. EVERYBODY wants PayPal <_< Anyway, what I need is motherboard AND cpu that can handle SDRAM that's 128mb(I have two sticks 128 a piece). It can be a Duron(what my system was) or even a Socket 7 as long as it can handle my ram. What I have to offer in exchange: Option 1 Ballcards: My bother left me all of his old ball cards. There's like three apple boxes of the stuff. Most of them are just in shoe boxes and I think they're worthless. But there are some that are in these little plastic cases with stickers and how much they're worth written on them. And some others in some folders with the same stickers and values on them. Anyway I don't know how much any of those stuff is worth now, but I'll send you $50 labeled worth of cards in exchange for the mb & cpu. Option 2 pc Games: I'll send you some pc games in exchange. A complete list is here. Just tell me how many you think is fair^^ Option 3: Cartridges I have a list of all the old cartridges I have. List is here. Same as cds just tell me what you want^^

P.S. I didn't really know where to put this thread, so I placed it here. Hope that's okay^^

    Re: Mew's trading post

You're wanting to trade a couple of snes rpg cartridges for a Socket 7? Those rpg cartridges are usually worth $20 minimum. A Socket 7 is literally garbage. If you take one into a pc repair shop they'll toss the board after they get you to buy a newer system. I just checked Ebay to make sure I'm not crazy, and the highest bid is $4. As old as these things are you could probably just ASK for one and someone would send you one. I'd be more than willing to except the only desktop I've ever owned was a Mac(still working naturally). Even the PIII/Duron you mention is crazy old. Anyway $50 worth of ball cards or cartridges is crazy for what you're asking for. I wouldn't give that much for a Socket 737 WITH ram.

I know xD But I'm desperate, I've become a pc addict, lol. I ran out of novels a couple of days ago and I'm probably going to go insane t_t. I can't watch much tv. Its already been two whole months. My paretns almost never let me leave the house and I don't think I can make it until graduation next year without a computer.
Even if the board is only worth $4 to somebody else its worth a lot more to me. I'd rather have a connection to the internet than Final Fantasy III and Secret of Mana xD

I think Mac Mania misread my post. I just looked for MB AND Cpu and the lowest I saw was $8 not counting shipping.
But thank you for the offer^^

root, you are awesome. I cannot see you getting a motherboard and CPU for 5 bucks though. root, if you find a motherboard and cpu, I will buy the motherboard and have it shipped to her. Just PM me the link for it. I will let you find it since I'am not a good shopper and you will do a better job choosing the right one. PM me the address to ship it.

Not with shipping, no. I was talking about bidding prices. And the board itself sold for $6. I guess there was a last minute bidding war :D

I read it properly. You looked for a Duron I suppose. The $4 figure I quoted was not exactly that. It was for a Pentium 3. But that too will work with SDRAM. While the board I mentioned has already been sold, there are others Its an 866mhz Motherboard and Cpu and the bid is currently $1.50. However shipping is $12. The fact that everyone on EBay insists on shipping UPS 3-day by default jacks up the cost of everything's shipping fee. I used to ask people to send things USPS parcel post back when I still had an account and they were generally receptive to the request. Usually dropped $10+ shipping fees to less than five bucks.

Ok, well lets make sure we choose someone with a good rating. It wont be worth a nickel if we get juked with bad or non working items. I would like to help MewMint get her PC fixed. I would say to look for the best deal we can find that looks reliable with the best quality components. Post the links here so we can view them. Thankyou MacMania.

Edit: MewMint, please post your computor specs. We must make sure that whatever system you have will be compatable with the MB and CPU. Also, I was curious if Newegg would have what she needs. Lastly, I may even have the CPU she needs laying around. If not, I will buy it to.

    Re: Mew's trading post

I have a computer you could have (actually more than 1 but this is probably the closest to what you have).  It is a AMD XP 2000+, with 512mb of ram - pc2700, a 80gb hd, a 40x12x48 cd burner, there is a dvd burner in it too but it does not work as I left it there since I was not sure where the front part that would go there is so I left the dvd burner in to keep dust and such out, with a ATI 8500 video card.  It is in a black case with a side window and the side fan has a blue led.  Though it would cost more to ship than the value it has to me.  It is just sitting there collecting dust at this point.  Would need to put in a os, was last running Ubuntu but I could put a copy of win2000 in it.  If you wanted XP you would need to put in your own copy.  Heck I would throw in a 17" crt monitor if wanted.  The only thing missing would be a keyboard and mouse, I do not have any extra of these as for some reason I have had a couple keyboards go bad and I have given away my extra mice.  But like I said shipping would be the biggest pain.  I have tried giving it or others to people I know (it is better than the systems for these people but they still didn't want to take it).

Mew, are you anywhere near LA? If you want to pick up, I'll just *GIVE* U a socket A mobo CPU and some RAM. It'd help clear up the mess here a lil bit.

    Re: Mew's trading post

Wow, I was just gonna update, but maybe Mew will like sjr's offer better...

    I am so embarrassed.

Anyway, the 2 months Mew referred to?  Well, some of that time is because IamHorrendous at times, and lead a crazy lifestyle resulting in me spacing things on occasion.  Like sjr, I've been looking for a good person to donate my old pc stuff to.  Anyway, I was having some issues getting my old pc apart, was frustrated, etc.  I guess I did something right today because my case finally released my mobo.  I got this puppy out (finally) and can ship it over to her.

Of course, Mew, I wouldn't blame you for taking sjr up on his offer.  Whatever is better for you, just let us know... Yes

    Re: Mew's trading post

We have the greatest members here, lol. The shipping will be salty. I will donate towards the shipping. I found FEDX to be the most reasonable if you ship ground. I talked with a supervisor there and they said it was safer also. He explained that priority gets thrown into a huge container where everything is piled on each other and sometimes gets smashed. He said that when shipped by truck there is alot less of a chance for damage. I would definitely double box with lots of packing. I would not ship a monitor. Its not worth it. I think she only needs a tower. Like I said if not then I will buy the MB and CPU for a reasonable price and have it shipped to her.

    Okay.
    MB: Socket A
    CPU: Duron
    Memory: SDRAM 224mb
    PSU: 175 watts
Video Crad: AGP NVidia GeForce 64mb
    Sound Card: PCI DSP Prowler
    Hard Drive: 20gb
    Keyboard and Mouse: PS2
    OS: Windows 2k, and 98

I think everything should work with the board Hydrogen mentioned^^

    IamHydrogen:
Mobo, P4 1.6ghz, heatsink (will need a new fan), 256MB DDR.  AGP and 3 PCI slots.  2 IDE channels, and the rest of the basics.  Oh, mATX (or was that obvious?  lol)

Not for many years xD. I miss California.

O_O Wow. Its very nice to offer so much but I don't really need a whole system. Just a mainboard^^

Ok MewMint, What is the manufacturer of your computor. Is it a gateway, dell, compaq, etc? And what is the model number and or serial number of your system. Maybe we can get the exact MB and CPU for your system. Ia'm not convinced that IamHydrogens components would be compatable with your system. Thankyou, Big Smile

175 watt PSU won't run a P4. And to be honest I have no idea what "DSP" even is(Digital Sound Pipe?). I'm about %99 sure his board has no such slot. And just how old is that hard drive, anyway?

root, again I sound like a broken record but, "you are awesome". If you could answer a question or two, and maybe help find a good deal on ebay, I will be the banker. You dont have to send me anything. If we can find the model and serial number of her pc then it would help us get the right ones. Just post the links and we can view them and make a decision together. Also, I asked in a previous post if Newegg would carry these, just wondering. Thanks, Big Smile

I made a typo on the sound card. DSP is part of its name xD Its a PCI card.

    6 years. Like everything else.

    What if:

We shoot for a Halloween Frankenstein pc?  I believe the psu in my old pc was about shot, so I'm not gonna send it along.  Maybe if someone has a psu laying around, and if someone else has a lil' more DDR, that wouldn't hurt either.  Onboard sound and video, but if peeps have old cards to send, great!

I'm not really awake yet, so I shouldn't be talking.  lol

Anyway, whatever we can work out for the Minty one is great.  Let me know what you need from me...

Edit- Whoops, some of that is unnecessary.  Posted before I saw Mew's last post.

It is totally up to you MewMint. If you want to provide some links, "what you want and need", that will probally be the best route to go. If someone else can help you in a better way, then that is ok to. I have a paypal account and a ebay account  It would make me feel good to help you out. Whichever way you choose to go, I hope it works out for you. Let us know.

Edit: I have to touch ground. I will be back in a couple of hours. Post some links please so we can get the ball rolling.

I still have my 350 watt psu which was running when the board died. I was just planning on using that one just in case xD
I'm totally convinced that your psu is bad. Let's run down the list of problems you've been having. Your CD-Drive dies, your hard drive develops almost 100mb in bad sectors, yoursystem starts shutting itself down and won't reboot, and then your cpu burns up. Your psu is dying and its taking everything in the case with it.

    Re: Mew's trading post

Okay. The psu could be a problem too, so I guess I will take that as well. Thank you to Aedion for that^^

Between Hydrogen's board and cpu and Aedion's psu and memory I guess that should cover everything xD

I've got to go here in about thirty minutes and I'll try to see if I can't find my way to an internet connected pc tomorrow, but I doubt I'll be able to(I live in a stone aged town xD)

Anyway, if I can't I'd like to say thank you to everyone for your help and offers of help.
