Anyone else having problems paying with PayPal?

    Anyone else having problems paying with PayPal?

    So I'm trying to order a Slingbox and I want to pay with PayPal, mainly to take advantage of that $20 off discount. This deal is suppose to expire around September so I want to take advantage of it now.

    I've been trying for as long as I can remember to pay using PayPal. But I always end up with this error message on neweggs website, right after the order is being processed:

    "We apologize that we are not able to authorize payment for your order now.

    We encourage you to try again if you feel this message was prompted in error.

    Newegg.com offers a variety of different payment options, from credit/debit cards and checks, to gift certificates.

    To opt for another payment method and proceed with checkout, click here."

    I've emailed newegg tech support, but the troubleshooting has so far not been helpful (although they had fast response time, so thanks for that).

    Is anyone else having this problem? Or is it just me (like a setting in my PayPal or Newegg account thats not turned on/off)? Should I try another PayPal account?

    Just placed an order an hour ago and paid with PayPal with no problems(used PayPal balance, not CC though).

    i tried to place an order with paypal last night and it kept saying that i had to add a card before so that i could verify my identity, i already had the only card i own added to the paypal account, and when i put in the number it wouldnt let me through, what is wrong? the deal on one of my items was going to expire so i just paid with the card instead of paypal.


    dell sucks, and nvidia should offer a control panel updater

    I was having the "We apologize that we are not able to authorize payment for your order now." with PayPal problem too. I tried at least a dozen times, even called PayPal (Newegg wasn't open at the time ). What I finally did was edit my PayPal verified address to make it EXACTLY the same as my Newegg address and it went right through.

    Paypal Merchant Services says:

    In speaking with the Account Manager for newegg, I was informed the issue lies within newegg and was advised to have your contact newegg directly. The error message on their website, advising you to contact PayPal was incorrect. I apologize for any inconvenience this has caused you.

    The Customer Service phone number for newegg.com is:


    Toll Free: (800) 390-1119
    Mon - Fri: 8:00am - 5:00pm PST

     

    Strangely, Newegg customer support suggested placing the order as "I
    am going to mail you a check" then call them and give them my Paypal
    debit card number. This allows me to pay by Paypal without actually
    using Paypal. Apparently fixing their payment software wasn't one of
    the choices.

    That makes a lot more sense then just paying with your Paypal debit card directly via the credit card option.

    They are having some kind of problems with Paypal express and I actually had problems with Paypal express on my website.  I eventually decided to just remove Paypal express and keep only the Paypal IPN option, which works flawlessly.  I'm not suggesting that they remove Paypal express, but all they really need to do is allow payment via the Paypal IPN and they're good to go.

    Placed another order last night and this time used a partial balance/cc funded paypal payment and everything went through fine. Maybe it is fixed for the time being. Woohoo

    I just tried again now, still didn't work.  However I did get a response to an email i sent that said:

    "We are sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused you. It seems that Paypal cannot verify your address information. You may need to call Paypal directly to get your address information confirmed. After you have fixed this matter, please go back to our website and place an order online. For reference, the shipping information on the PayPal account has to be a confirmed address (the address at which you receive your billing statements)"

    I might try to add a credit card to my Paypal account today as I'm hoping that that will confirm the address.  After I add a credit card and attempt to order again, I'll post again and let yah know what happens.

    I've been getting the same error message. My PayPal information matches my NewEgg information exactly. I'm trying to pay with my PayPal balance.

    I'm sure everyone will be telling you this, but it's important to me that I am able to place this order soon. Do you have any estimate of the date that you will be able to get this problem fixed?

    Hey ALL!!!

    I met with one of our System Analysts yesterday and he was actually having a conference call with Paypal at 5pm PST to find a solution to this problem!  Please allow some time to implement any solution they come up with! 

    I know this isn't the response some of you are looking for cause I know at least one person here has a time sensitive order.  Hopefully we will see a fix implemented today.

    So another update... this issue is a verification conflict.  Newegg's address verification conflicts with Paypals.  Actually its more on the Paypal side.  When you try to pay via paypal your address information is sent to paypal.  If your newegg data does not match paypal's then you will hit this problem.

    Try matching up your information EXACTLY the same.  Im talking about spaces and everything.  If you used your Middle initial on one and not the other ... stuff like that.  If you've done this and you are still getting the problem, please send Yubi your Customer Number so she can look into it further.
