Gift [G] Package Tracking and Mapping!

Alright, I've been using this site for a few years now, and have decided to share it with those of you who may not know about it.

The site is www.packagemapping.com. Very simply you go to the site, and you can track your packages via RSS feeds on a Google map. It supports UPS*, USPS, FedEx, and DHL. In addition if you create an account you can save your tracking numbers to track at any time, and use a multi-map feature to track all your packages on one map.

*There are a few limitations on UPS tracking due to UPS limiting the number of times per day that the site can pull from UPS.com, however I find that it is often more accurate and in depth the the UPS site itself.

Additional features are a Sidebar gadget for Vista users, Firefox and Thunderbird extensions, an iGoogle Gadget, Avg Speed, Travel Time, Travel Distance, etc... There is also a payed option though I've never used it.

Anyways, check it out and see what you think! It's pretty neat to be able to track your packages on a visual map.

    Individual package tracking and mapping.

Note: it even gives you the Distance, Travel Time, and Avg. Speed.

    Multi-map tracking and mapping

Additionally there is http://isnoop.net/tracking/, which offers a single package tracking feature. While it is allowed to pull from UPS more often, it does not allow you to save the tracking numbers, or to Multi-map.

    Enjoy!

Looks nice.  They should have something like that on the carrier's website.

    Re: Package Tracking and Mapping!

This is really really neat.. And I think everybody should at least give it a try for their next purchase..  It would be nice if they could track multiple packages at the same time as my orders quite frequently get split into multiple shipments..

Anyway, I think NewEgg's package tracking needs an upgrade.. And this site has some of the coolest package tracking available.. Definitely worth a good look..

Hehe, you can use multi-map to track multiple shipments at one time, I use it all the time. Just make a free account, go to your control panel, and you can enter and save multiple tracking numbers, then select all the ones you want to track and click multi-map! =)

    Re: Package Tracking and Mapping!

It's genious! Imagine having all your shipments from NewEgg tracked on the map at the same time without having to add them manually.. I bet NewEgg could do it..  Maybe have a little package tracking map in your NewEgg account / profile.. Smile

     Edit:

Here's mine, showing one NewEgg order that was split into two shipments..

    Both shipments still in transit.

    Destination: Central New York

Interesting how they crossed paths like that Big Smile

    Re: Package Tracking and Mapping!

Sheesh, I'd never even leave Newegg.com then. (wait, I never do anyways, it's always open in the tab just left of eggxpert.com.)

In all honesty it would be an amazing addition. In fact... if nothign else they could work out a deal with the owner of packagemapping.com since he does allow people to put the program on their sites. I pretty sure it's not all that complex of a program though.

And did I mention how sweet it is to have a package tracking gadget on a Vista sidebar?

    Re: Package Tracking and Mapping!

Just had to say thanks for this.  I had saved the link, and finally had a use for it today.  Priority Saturday delivery for a client.  It's amazing that this site is easier and quicker than the FedEx site!

    Awesome!  Yes

    Re: Package Tracking and Mapping!

yeah that is pretty awesome thanks.  What would really be cool is if you could it could track the exact route of the ups truck and you could view it real time, so you know exactly where the truck is.

    Re: Package Tracking and Mapping!

That looks pretty cool, I'll have to check it out when I eventually get a tracking number.  What I find hilarious is how most things I've ordered from NE come from Edison, New Jersey, which is maybe an hour and a half from me and it takes UPS like 3 or 4 days to get it here.  I could drive over to the warehouse myself and pick it up faster.

looks pretty cool, but too many ads on the page not read friendly.

this one is more clear: http://www.packagetrackr.com, but currently ups tracking number support only. :-(
