Re: What kind of camera are you using?

Sony DSLR A-100 and Minolta DiMage 7i are my main cameras.  I carry around a Casio for "found" shots and a Pentax waterproof camera for when do my kayaking trips.

The "super steady shot" on the Sony is the best thing ever invented in a camera.  I was a loyal Minolta user ever since the days of the SR-1.  It was very upsetting when Minolta merged with Konica.  I was livid when they sold out to Sony.  But after looking around the DSLR market I swallowed my pride and got the Sony.  Now after more than 6,000 pictures I was glad I got what I did.

On a recent trip with other photograpers we had a unofficial 'shoot out'  I tried their mostly Canon 30D's and Nikon D200's.  They tried my A100.  Most agreed that the A100 was at least competetive with theirs.  It may not be pro level but it takes decent photos.

Rebel XTi with 17-85mm IS F4-5.6 Canon Lens. Fitted with HOYA Super HMC UV filter. Cost me and arm and leg but its FUN! I wish i got the L series lens, but too expensive (about 1400) For those of you who have this lens, does barrel distortion bother you at 17-24mm? That is the reason i opt to get the L series. The 22-55mm IS F2.6 seems pretty good but at that price, i might as well get the L line.

Samsung V4 ... 4.2 mega pixel... both auto & manual for home use... does a good job... besides, i guess it is drop-proof since I dropped it many times from different heights... works fine...

Re: What kind of camera are you using?

I just ordered a Panasonic LZ7K last Thursday. Before then I was using a old Kodak DX4330 (3 megapixels). As much as I'd love to have a DSLR, I just don't have the money.

I'm using the Rebel XTi also. The price is pretty insane but it's still low compared to Canon's other super high end cameras. I ended up trading one of my M16 rifles for this puppy! But man is it a great camera, I've taken some of the best photos of my life with this camera.

    Ricoh...

I use my Ricoh GX100. Best digicam I've ever had. It's very portable. It has as good as all the manual settings you can wish and hope for. And I love the feel and look of it. It really puts fun into photography.

Of course, a DSLR  of hi Q is nice, but is just soooo huge in comparison. It's like driving a tank in the city traffic. Or something in that line ;-)

Re: What kind of camera are you using?

Started out with the Olympus C-3030.
Upgraded to the Canon Digital Rebel (300D)
    Upgraded to the Canon 20D
    Upgraded to the Canon 30D
    Upgraded to the Canon 5D

I've also been seen using a Nikon S3 with underwater housing but
upgraded to a Canon SD630 with underwater housing.  =)

I tend to upgrade now and then.

I use my Pentax *istDL for important stuff and my Canon A410 P&S for everyday photos. Big Smile

Got rid of the Canon A410 and almost bought the A550.  A friend steered me to FujiFilm F31fd.  I have not purchased it yet but after seeing some ISO test shots compared to Canon Powershot series cameras, they cant even come close.  ISO 200 on a Canon Powershot series camera is almost the highest you can go without having noise ruin your picture.  The fuji at ISO 800 is comparable to the Canon at ISO 200. Surprise  I am not going to get the 31fd but opted to get the 40fd because it has SD card support. Smile

Re: What kind of camera are you using?

    I dislike how digital cameras can't catch the exact moment you click, or wont, since with my new camera if you halfway press, hold it there you can just press harder for an instant shot. Sometimes I miss the motion streaks you get too, with digital it seems it's a perfect clear crip shot or it's a blurry mess.  Problem is I can't load a film camera. >.< Not a good thing to not know. The again I love being able to just randomly point the camera without it being at my face, and being able to see the result immediatly and try again. If I could just load film I could just cary two cameras around. ^.^;

I have a kodak easyshare c633, killed my last one within a year, p****d me off. I know it was an easyshare... forgot which one. It's about a year older than the one I have now, which I think I got 8 or 9 months ago but couldn't use due to lack of XP OS and having 'misplaced' *I so lost it* the memory card. Finally bought one, I'm thrilled, might need another soon though. I switched bedrooms, still didn't find the old card. T_T I have a sneaking suspition it was trashed accedentally (while in the little plastic case) during the room purge.

Currently using my trusty Canon SD450. (The one with the notorious cracking Sony-made display) After I replaced the display it works like a champ, for a non-stabilized camera. But after seeing my friend's Panasonic Lumix TZ series compact, I know what my wife's next camera is going to be!

    Rosewill R6AR6 case, Antec EA 500W psu, Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3R mobo, Intel C2D E6420 w/ Arctic7 pro & ArcticSilver5, 4GB Kingston HyperX DDR2 800, Quadro FX1500 video, Seagate 320 GB 7200.10 SATA, Pioneer 112D IDE dvdr & Sony FDD, Zalman 120mm & AeroCool 92mm fans, Win XP Pro SP2
