Yes. Trying to "keep it clean" means I'm censoring people's speech, even if it is mean spirited and spiteful.

Never mind the continued existence of this thread and others like it, and the fact that it remains unlocked for posting...

Re: NewEgg & PayPal: Egg comes out stinky on this

    CheapAsianGamerGuy:

For the record, I'm the "mod" that changed the title, while redacting my own admittedly personally insulting post.

CAGG, do you really wish to stand by the change of wording from "Egg comes out stinky on this" to "I like pie" as a non-editorial change???
Surely you realize the implications of your assertion.  Would you then also change someone's editorial comment of "I won't buy from NewEgg again" or "I'm voting for Guiliani" to "I like pie" in each case??

Despite efforts to turn this thread into something about Dell, or any other company other than NewEgg, such arbitrary corruption by yourself or others of the original content of this forum is further hurting this company.  Is it not enough that on every review site, deal site, hardware site available, there are individuals bemoaning the intent of the promotional event on Monday?  Is it also desired that they should further complain about having their voices squelched in the forums owned by the same company?

Nay, you are not doing them any favors, my friend.  It is imperative that individuals have the right to post, and to stay on topic (the on topic thing goes even for mods.)

BTW, my understanding is that NewEgg has no relation to the old EggHead stores. Common misconception.

Re: NewEgg & PayPal: Egg comes out stinky on this

    This is becoming laughable!

    CheapAsianGamerGuy:

For the record, I'm the "mod" that changed the title, while redacting my own admittedly personally insulting post.

Eggxpert's usage agreement states clearly that rude, insulting, harassing type behavior is not tolerated, and while the posts that have just been repeated have been edited for CONTENT, they have not been edited for EDITORIAL content. (The meaning and messages are preserved, the insults are taken out).

You, myself, and everyone on this message board ARE free to air you, your, our collective opinion, one post at a time, anger notwithstanding. The Mods/admins are just trying to keep it clean.

For example: Yes I changed the title of the top-level post, but any 5 year old with half a moronic brain cell can see the ORIGINAL title in all subsequent posts. No-one's opinions have been squelched or deleted, and only truly duped posts are deleted. (disk space)

I agree with root, I have my opinion of newegg as a company, and I've decided to stand by them at this time, and hope they will do right by their customers in the long run.

In the mean time, those who feel the need to vent, by all means do so. And GeoMac, cache notwithstanding  you are free to do whatever you want with whatever service you'd like. Would you recommend I file a BBB complaint against Dell for the $50 I lost purchasing an 8800GT video card last night?

To conclude: this thread is not going ANYWHERE, the mods and admins merely remind everyone to try to keep it polite and clean, if possible. Or it will be done for you.

Not at all... I just can't resist the opportunity. ^^

And NoWayOut: Really? I figured since newegg.com was coming online the same time Egghead went away...

Re: NewEgg & PayPal: Egg comes out stinky on this

    GeoMac...

    *sigh*

God forbid we change a title to something comical to calm people down. We all get the arguements by page 3. That's 4 pages ago. Like I posted a page ago, you either don't like Newegg enough to not shop there or continue shopping there, trusting that they will take care of you.

It's not like anyone has lost money yet. You can return your merchandise.

Come on people. They didn't just kill your favorite dog. The worst that was wasted was your time. We are all upset but there is a limit to the amount of carp that one can take (and that was 4 pages ago).

Re: NewEgg & PayPal: Egg comes out stinky on this

    CheapAsianGamerGuy.

I usually agree with you but on this one I have to agree with GeoMac. I don't think you are helping the Egg by changing the title of the post or belittling others concerns. Dell has nothing to do with this forum, and yes if the same thing happened at Dell you should pursue it with them. I understand you are tired of the topic but others still need to vent.

I will still continue to buy from NewEgg but they need someone high up in the corporation to explain, apologize and help those affected to learn the status of their orders.

Which is exactly why we're now on the subject of pie.

    Speaking of which... Grasshopper?

OK. If you believe this, then let's stop with the pie and discuss the topic at hand. What has not been discussed that you would like to discuss?

I'm not being condescending, I truely would like to know what we could productively discuss that hasn't already been discussed?

    Edit: I said "discuss" a lot didn't I?

root, that is just embarassing for you and other ubers.  The first mention of "pie" discussion in this thread was by you, post 213022.
Why are you now redacting away from what you started?

Re: NewEgg & PayPal: Egg comes out stinky on this

Sorry but I have to agree, I don’t think it’s cute or clever to change the thread title, there is nothing rude, insulting or harassing about the original thread title, I know you’re just trying to defuse the problem by trying to bring levity to the situation but you really are harming newegg more than you’re helping.

Regardless, I’m looking forward to hearing how Newegg intends to address this issue from RoddyR or someone who works for Newegg.com

Well said.  I am with GeoMac on this one as well.
Hopefully, RoddyR or someone else will get a handle on whoever has uber, mod, admin whatever priviliges on his forums.  That's just bad.

Because of my belief that this issue is a dead horse and I believe in laughing over drama. But that is avoiding the question. My question to you, good sir, is what else needs to be brought up that hasn't been brought up?

Maybe the arguments keep getting rehashed because a couple of NewEgg fanboys keep making up excuses and keep trying to deflect blame. The gripes are valid. NewEgg screwed up and a lot of people are left hanging because of it. And despite a couple of mods who are promising that NewEgg will make things right despite not having a single shred of evidence to back that up, NewEgg has remained utterly silent about what they're going to do.

You're attempting to deflect the subject once again. You can talk about pie all you want, but losing money is not the only way people can get screwed. I wasted a ton of time filling a cart only to have my time wasted by NewEggs lies. My time isn't free. If your is that explains your willingness to talk about pie rather than the subject at hand. What about people who need their parts pronto? They're left hanging. How about people without a lot of cash? Maybe they have to wait to get the order, refuse it, wait for NE to get it back and wait for the payment to be returned before they can order again. In the meantime they're stuck because NE collected their money under false pretenses by participating in something barely above a scam. Keep talking about pie. It just makes the blind  "NewEgg can do no wrong" blatherings of a few people that much more laughable and pathetic. This IS a real issue, people HAVE suffered actual damages and NewEggs REFUSES to address it in any official way. Keep laughing it up, the longer that your heroes at NewEgg drag it out the worse it becomes.

Re: NewEgg & PayPal: Egg comes out stinky on this

mmm Traditional apple pie is perfectly fine by me! PS been shopping with newegg since 05 and honestly they rank right at the top in CS for me. shipping is top notch, pricing is competitive, snags like this happen. get over it or atleast talk to CS in a rational manner rather than posting on a forum..... O and for the record yes I bought a digital camera and printer so yes I was hoping for the 20% to kick in but meh the deal was still better than most others out there so I stick with newegg.

Re: NewEgg & PayPal: Egg comes out stinky on this

He's not redacting anything. He's asking a serious question. What does anyone seriously hope to say or accomplish with this thread that has not already been said and/or accomplished? Really.

GeoMac: The editorial content has not been changed because anyone  who cares enough to look up at the title of this and any other child object post can see the original title.

Not a single fact or assertion has been deleted, and yet this flamewar continues. I've even stopped attacking people and apologized, but now everyone's claiming obscuration!

Let's be real here, if NewEgg or EggXpert were seriously in the business of "obscuring the facts" no threads like this would be allowed to exist more than a few seconds. But yet here we all are.

Let's try to do something useful shall we? A serious question posted to everyone:

WHAT DO YOU THINK NEWEGG SHOULD DO ABOUT THIS SITUATION?

(GeoMac I think you misinterpreted my meaning when I asked, in all seriousness, WHAT can I do about the Dell situation. I don't want to derail this discussion, but I spent $300 there hoping to get $50 back. Is there seriously any chance I can get a big brand reseller like Dell to honor the Paypal Promo? IF you could reply to me in private message I'd *really* appreciate hearing your take on the situation outside of NewEgg.)
