    Offhand, I tried to get a clearer pic, but it appears this certain area has no been hi-res scanned.

    I rescind my previous conclusions.  I must admit that I've looked at about eleventy-billion airfields, though, and have yet to find this one...

    Ok, just to remove any confusion the Fortress you are looking for is NOT the B-17 Flying Fortress.

    Additionally this airfield is no longer active as a military base.

    just when i think i have it i don't...this is a good one...so good i have to take breaks and come back to it. This may not be solved until tomorrow.

    If you have the correct things turned on in Google Earth it will show the Current name, from there you'll have to do so Googling to get the name I'm looking for.

    Assume things like that and you'll find it hard to get further help... =/

    Edit: On second thought, I'm done...

    It's the former K.I. Sawyer Air Force Base in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, the B-52H Stratofortress used to base out of it for Strategic Air Command.
