    Intel Plans “Fast” Transition to Next-Generation A

    Intel Plans “Fast” Transition to Next-Generation Atom Platform.

    • Intel Atom N450: single-core with Hyper-Threading support, 1.66GHz, 512KB cache, x86-64, BGA437 package, $63 price-point;
    • Intel Atom D510: dual-core with Hyper-Threading support, 1.66GHz, 1MB cache, x86-64, BGA437 package, $63 price-point;
    • Intel Atom D410: single-core with Hyper-Threading support, 1.66GHz, 512KB cache, x86-64, BGA437 package, $43 price-point;

    Still curious about the integrated graphics core, not sure if it can beat Ion maybe.

     "computers makers will launch actual systems powered by Intel Atom N450 and derivatives on the 4th of January 2010, just in time to show them on the Consumer Electronics Show."

    4th of January 2010, then why the DDR2 memory controller? Atom should also go with DDR3.

    Nice.  Integrated graphics AND memory manager.  Ditch the hot old 945GM.

     It doesn't need DDR3 speed, but it would be nicer for its lower voltage and it will probably be cheaper than DDR2 relatively shortly.

    Keep in mind, right now Intel forces Atom buyers to accept a 945GM chip.  ION motherboard makers chuck the 945GM.  By Intel putting this on the CPU they effectively kill the ION... cause it  is already on the CPU and you can't chuck it for the ION. Nasty.  The ION can handle a 2 x 2Gb arrangement and it can use DDR3 and a 4Gb stick.  I would be stunned if the Intel can use more than a single 2Gb stick...and they would restrict it to 1Gb max if they thought they could get away with it.
