    power supply width

I bought the antec Basiq (BP550 Plus).  The width was 5.9"(W) x 3.4"(H) X 5.9"(L).   I have an ATX case.  I measured the power supply opening and it is about 6.4 (width).   My first complain is that newegg does not list the width of the power supply in there description.  (a few of them have it).  It is costing me a restocking fee now.

Is there any way I can modify or buy an adaptor to extend the power supply width?  I can not attach it to my case without a larger power supply (width).  Does newegg sell the larger width power supplies?   Is there anything else I can do without buying a new case?  I do not want to spend over $100.00 for a power supply.  I do not need a 1000 WATT ps.

    Re: power supply width

Are you sure thats an ATX case?

ATX is the form factor of the case, and any ATX psu like the one you bought will bolt right up to it. So either its not an ATX case, or your missing a peice of the case.

Please give a link to the case you bought.

I think I am missing a piece of my case.  Does not make any sense why the ps will not screw in.

Not looking forward to buying a new case.  Is there any other method to get the ps in the case?

I have emailed antec and waiting for a response.

    Re: power supply width

Like GmsCool stated, the problem is with your case, not your PSU, which is standard ATX sized.

I know some Antec cases use PSU brackets to mount the PSU, so your case must be one of those. Their customer support is usually pretty good about replacing bits and pieces of the case.

But if they don't, you can always try some small mods, like wedging a block of wood to keep it in place or using rope or something to tie it down.

    Re: power supply width

Yea, there's a plate that screws to the PSU, then you slide the PSU inside the case, and screw down that plate.

This IS NOT be the one for your case, but here's what it looks like   http://www.antec.com/Detail.bok?no=378

You could just set the PSU in position on top of the rails until they send you the plate, as long as you don't move the PC around allot. Although, allot of times they will want you to RMA the ENTIRE case rather than just sending you the mounting plate Frustrated

Let us know how it turns out, I'm curious how they correct your problem.

Thanks.  I will let you know how it turns out.  I will use a temp solution until I can resolve the problem.  I must have lost the mounting bracket.

Can I wrap the ps in duck tape?  (not sure how hot the ps gets and do not need the tape burning).

    I wouldn't suggest it.

Just set it in there, and don't move the PC around untill your able to aquire the bracket.

    Re: power supply width

You could try it, but use as little as possible and DONT BLOCK ANY HOLES.
