Mouse Single Click Makes Double Click Sound

I just reformated my computer and installed all drivers from components website, so drivers should all be up to date.  When I click the mouse on anything (single click) it makes a double click sound.  If I double click, it makes a triple or quadruple click sound. And sometimes if I am submitting something on the internet (i.e. payment), in the process of it submitting it makes almost a machine-gun sounding repeatitive click.  I've also updated to the latest internet explorer.  I'm running a microsoft laser 6000 keyboard and mouse combo.  I downloaded the most recent driver from microsoft.com thinking it might have been a driver issue. I can't figure out why it making more click sounds than the amount of times that I click.  Besides this the computer is running as good as the day I built it.  It runs as smooth as glass.  Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Re: Mouse Single Click Makes Double Click Sound

For hardware like keyboards/mice, I would use the Windows built in drivers, rather than ones downloaded online which could be unreliable or be the wrong version.

Uninstall the mouse driver and restart. When Windows boots up again, it'll automatically install the correct drivers which are built in.

    This should do it.
