Cooling delema for my new 955 BE

Alrighty folks heres the deal: Right now i am running an 6000+ X2 at 3.4ghz with a Coolermaster Aquagate mini r90 (old closed loop water cooler). Temps are at 32c idle and reach 50c during a few hours of gaming. Soon i am planning on upgrading from this to a Phenom II X4 955 BE. My question is what would the performance change be (if any) if i decided to purchase something along the lines of a Prolimatech Megahalems Cooler since the water cooler would fit on the Phenom also.

Well, the Prolimatech, a pretty nice cooler, is pricey, with shipping, near what $75? The Sunbeam CR-CCTF 120 mm Core-Contact Freezer CPU Cooler W/TX-2 is an incredible $35 plus $15 MIR, for a HSF that will go nekc and neck with the Prolimatech. Realizing that HSF isn't benched, I've seen it first hand, the SB CC is comprable, and what, less than 1/3 the cost?

I got a 9950 on a SB CC right now, high 20s idle, don't see it over 40c (with a mild hammer Oc), but dont game with this one, more video stuff. since the 955 is similar 125W, suspect temps be near comprable as well. Seems these are better temps, both Prolimatech and SB Cc than that aging closed loop.

SB Cc though man, great buy right now for $20 after MIR.

Thanks for the feedback Penewab, i really appreciate it. Looks like the SB CC is a real bang for your buck!

    i use http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835702007 on my 955.3.2ghz

running normaly without overclock is 21'C in BIOS on 1.35V

    and 29'C with SpeedyFan application.

u need a big case for this tho..i suggest full tower case.with width..that at least 9"

Totally second Penewab's suggestion. The Megahalems is overpriced, and the Sunbeam performs almost as well for a much lower price.

Don't bother with the Vigor Monsoon- its a nice cooler by all means but still expensive and on roughly the same level as the Sunbeam.
