    Laptop Processor Upgrade

    My current processor: http://www.machinaelectronics.com/store/buypart/HP_Pavilion_DV8000/TMDML34BKX5LD

    Prospective upgrade: http://www.shopping.com/xPF-AMD-AMD-Athlon-64-Mobile-4000-62W-Socket-754-Processor

After looking at the two links, should I simply be able to swap one processor for another?

In addition, are there any special considerations I should know about before attempting to take apart my laptop, swap procs, and put it back together?

Uh yeah most laptops don't allow the swaping out of cpu's. So it might be best to call the laptop maker and find out if it can be done and if it can be done how and if the new cpu is supported.

You can't just assume that like a desktop you can yank things out a laptop and replace them with new stuff.

Actually most common laptops have cpus you can remove and replace.  The problem though is getting to it.  For example, I just replaced the CPU in an Acer laptop, and I had to unscrew no less then 35 of those little black laptop screws to get to it.  When I put it back together, I still had two extra screws.  But the laptop works great.

That is good to know but it will cost you more efforts and times. It is always not a good idea to upgrade to a brand new processor for lappy.

That wasn't actually my question, sparker366, as I know my proc CAN be swapped. I was asking for confirmation on whether or not the procs I linked to can be swapped one with another. Thanks anyway.
Alright, that's good to know, Rjbass. I'll keep track of the screws while I go. :)

Sparker366 does have one good point though which is to contact the manufacturer to see if the new processor is compatible.
