Banned [ban] MBAM database stolen by IOBit

Malwarebytes has recently uncovered evidence that a company called IOBit based in China is stealing and incorporating our proprietary database and intellectual property into their software. We know this will sound hard to believe, because it was hard for us to believe at first too. But after an indepth investigation, we became convinced it was true.

Re: MBAM database stolen by IOBit

The final confirmation of IOBit's theft occurred when we added fake definitions to our database for a fake rogue application we called Rogue.AVCleanSweepPro. This "malware" does not actually exist: we made it up. We even manufactured fake files to match the fake definitions. Within two weeks IOBit was detecting these fake files under almost exactly these fake names.

WOW, I can see someone using someones database to start THERE OWN database, but flat out copying it, thats just stupid, no we won't get caught, lol.

    Frustrated

Re: MBAM database stolen by IOBit

IOBit forums are deleting most everything related to this except for moderator/higher level posters and banning others.

I am not hiding the threads I am temporarily deleting them.

::edit:: thanks for the sticky Yes

Re: MBAM database stolen by IOBit

Looks like that's exactly what they're doing now - Declaration from IOBit

Lol...of course they deny it.  But with those fake virus signatures that MBAM put out and IOBit Security 360 detecting it with those same signatures, I frankly don't know how you could deny the facts.

BTW- Michael Horowitz from Computer World gives his take on the situation.
