    Re: Upgrade Input.

If you post your specs like mobo model or pc model we can let you know for sure if it will work.

If you have a single core 3800+ I would geuss you have a socket 939 mobo for which they don't make cpus anymore. If that's the case you would have to pick up a 939 x2 off ebay or something.

    Re: Upgrade Input.

Sorry about that. i am using AM2 Socket. i could only find 2 processors that work with my mobo. which is the 5200+ and a 6000+. but i heared from a friend that the 6000+ had problems. so i was wanting to hear your inputs.

    Re: Upgrade Input.

I have never had any problems with the 6000+. If you have an am2 mobo either cpu should work fine.

To be on the safe side you should be able to get a cpu support list off your mobo makers website. Or post the model and we can track it down for you. Yes

    Re: Upgrade Input.

I have been looking around trying to find my mobo but i have had no luck. my pc is an acer aspire t180. i did happen to find out the the mobo in my pc is a modified foxconn most likely from one of these 2 : http://www.foxconnchannel.com/product/Motherboards/chipset.aspx?socket_id=en-us0000007&chipset_id=en-us0000090&Socket=Socket+AM2&Chipset=MCP61S

seeing as how they look almost identical to the same one in my computer. if the 6000+ will work fine then i might go with it. because it is a few bucks cheaper and i believe it will give me more power. only thing i am worried about is if my PSU can handle it. seeing as i have an upgraded GPU to a 8600 GT and 3Gbs of ram. and only a 250W PSU

    Re: Upgrade Input.

well ill more then likely stick with the 5200 as it comes with a 3 year warranty heatsink and fan plus it only takes like 3 more watts than my current processor so i know i can run it without upgrading my psu.
