    i7 920 or i7 860

Ok I'm a huge AMD fan but I'm willing to give Intel a shot mostly because my graphics card loyalty is stronger than my processor loyalty and i want nvida and more so i want it SLI which on the newest amd platform there is STILL not an am3 motherbaord that can SLI.

So i am torn between those two processors all i know right now the i7 860 path will most likly be cheaper because the socket type for i7 920 the mother baords generally cost more and ram cost more ect ect

I'm planing on spending about 1200 bucks probably just going to buy one GPU now and buy another later when i have the money to SLI it

Almost forgot to add this is going ot be a gameing pc

Okay, we can see that i7 920 and i7 860 are about break-even with 860 winning a few benchmarks due to its higher frequency and 920 edging out in some others because of triple channel memory. As for future upgrade path, both will be limited, but since this is gonna be a gaming PC, u may as well go with the 920 cuz it overclocks much easier above 4 Ghz with HTStick out tongue

well I'm fairly inexperienced when it comes to overclocking only overclocks i trust my self with are when its extremely simplified like with nvida GPU overclockers XD lol. Id like to learn more about it but im to afraid to do much over clocking just for the sole fact i don;t have much money to begin with it is taking me for ever to get the money for a new pc and i don't want to jeopardize it by overclocking it then killing  it and it not being covered in a warranty because i improperly overclocked it

I don't know about the 860 but with 920's, you have a reasonably good chance of getting a 940 quality chip.
