With the budget yet powerful i5's released, i decided id finally take the jump to building a new desktop. Right now the total is like $1100. I'd like to trim it down to sub-$1000. In this build I'm taking a ram/cpu/mobo combo that saves $40, however the ram and mobo reviews aren't bad, but not terrific. Here's the parts:

Dump the modular psu as its not really worth the extra money and the haf allows great cable routing. Get the Corsair 750 TX for 40 bucks less even after rebates.

The money I saved you on the psu you can put in to lower timing ram which will perform better. G.Skill Ripjaws are Cas 8 and 1.6v 10 bucks more then the OCZ but you saved 40 bucks with the psu change out so you are still netting 30 buck savings.

Other then that the build looks good. I would add a second hard drive to the mix to use for your os and programs. Drives are cheap so get a 160gb drive and you could up the 750gb to a 1tb for not much more money.

Get the 4870 1GB. It's a tad better than the GTX 260 216-Core and cheaper.

 You save $25. If you want to save more than get a different 4870 just make sure it's 1GB.

i believe everything is compatible and all. i switched up the mobo because i dig the "magic" overclock switch and it had generally less problems than the other one. If you see a non-compatible part, please say so. 

 also, will the cpu and stock fan come with cpu goop? sorry i dont know the proper word. my dad gave me his 20" samsung moniter and he is buying the family pack for windows 7, so i dont need any of that. i dont NEED the oem version do i? 

 if this all works, i will be buying it. i cant wait!
