    A Newbie question on CPUs

    Hello to All!:

I have  an Motherboard MSI K9VGM-V

    I want to install this:

    6000+ 3000 GHz, 2x1 MB, Windsor, 0.090 micron, Stepping F3, 125 Watt, 2000 MHz HT F3 1.0

However the MSI recommends 89 watts  but will the 125 watt CPU work without castestrophic results?  Am I going to have a melt down if I install it to try it out?  What will happen?  I am new to this forum and would appreciate some advice before I start.

    Thanks guys!

Re: A Newbie question on CPUs

Here is the cpu support list for your mobo http://www.msicomputer.com/index.php?func=prodcpusupport&maincat_no=1&prod_no=260#menu

there is a 89 watt version of the 6000+. The 125 probably won't blow your build up but it will not work. Normaly you get a message at post saying something like "this mobo only supports low power cpus."

    ADX6000IAA6CZ (retail ADX6000CZBOX) is the 125W Windsor

    ADA6000IAA6CZ (retail ADA6000CZBOX) is the 89W Windsor.
