I don't know why when I give my family a computer they always seem to bring out the worst in it. I had no problems with it when I owned it and have been maintaining it for them since I gave it to them, but it seems the tech gods look down upon my generosity.
Anyway, it has been working great after I installed the new power supply about a week ago. Then my brother started it up today and it said Windows failed to load due to either a missing system file or corrupted data and gave me a status code of 0x00000e9. I figured I would try to repair it with the installation cd, but whenever it tries to load the cd-rom it just goes to the same Windows failed to load screen. I don't really want to reformat it without getting some files off first otherwise that just means more work for me.
So any suggestions as to why the cd won't boot for me or any insight into the problem as a whole would be great!
