4850 Red lights and Windows 7

I have been using the Asus model EAH 4850 graphics card for less than a year and have had no problems with it while using XP x64.  Now that I have the retail version of Windows 7 Pro x64 installed the graphics card will quit working and two red LEDS will come on and I will have to turn the power off to the power supply to reset everything.  The computer usually stays on and the problem only occurs in Windows 7.  The problem existed even when I had the RC version installed.  Has anyone heard of this problem before and if so is there a resolution?

Have you downloaded and installed the latest drivers?

The lights usually indicate an error such as a low power condition, or the drivers crashed and the fan stopped so the card turns off to protect itself.

Also, check the temps of your video card, just incase it is overheating.

I have installed all of the latest drivers and the Smart Doctor Program from ASUS.  I checked on it this morning and the entire PC was turned off, like it went into standby and the red lights came on when I moved the mouse to wake it up.  I will have to look at the power settings and see if that might have an affect on it.

Re: 4850 Red lights and Windows 7

After doing some testing over the past few days.  It seems that the video card does not like to go to sleep with the computer and then come back on with it.  I have changed my power settings in windows 7 to high performance, pretty much leaves everything on, and I have not had any problems with it.  So, for some reason the video card is either off or on but not sleeping.

    Clearly a driver issue.

I'm also having issues with the latest nvidia drivers refusing to run Crysis for more than about 10 mins..   *sigh*.. Previous drivers worked fine and I rolled 'em back and it still doesn't work.. Time to whip out the driver cleaner..

I never recommend people run RAID-5 with onboard chipsets.

I have had the same issue by turning on the pc after it has been shutdown for a while.
