    netbook users come hither

So I got a $100 AMEX giftcard on the way (won) and was thinking to maybe get a netbook (together with some of my money)

anyway first I know the intel GMA 950 cant game if its life depended on it but could it run older games, like for ex. roller coaster tycoon, sims 1, return incredible machine ?

I would assume they can because I used to play those on a P2 @ 299mhz, and 8MB gfx fine

but what about other games like GTA VC?

also could it mount ISO's with no problems and run them? (no cd drive, not for now anyway planning on getting this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827135194  was planning on dumping games on my desktop then transferring the ISO over through USB then mounting them)

other needs would include some programming apps, MS VS 2008 pro, MS VS 6.0 enterprise, MASM 6.15

and a music player; winamp should work fine I assume?

and this is the netbook I wanted to get an ASUS Eee PC 1005HA-P

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834220551

    and netbook case

    and one final thing

    how is N64 emulation?

    Re: netbook users come hither

The only Atom that will run 64bit is the 330 dual core (edit--and apparently the single core 230).  The rest are 32 bit only (edit2 -- including the 280 which wasn't on the original link I included above.).

I am afraid the only netbook I think much of is one based upon the ION, and even then I figure if it doesn't support 4Gb (none made so far do to keep both Intel and Microsoft happy) the heck with it.

PS: the 945 will support swapping a 2Gb stick in place of the current 1Gb stick.  Not a bad upgrade.

    Freedom's the Answer.
    What's the Question?

    Re: netbook users come hither

well its not a problem if its 32bit only (im using a 32bit OS right now on my dekstop Stick out tongue )

the ION netbooks are somewhat out of my price range, articles ive read says its adds about $100 to the price tag which is a bit too much for a 9400GT

only one close is the HP one but HP makes the worst netbooks next to gateway, so there is really a reason why its cheaper then every other netbook

I saw the upgrade to 2GB on a youtube clip, I might do it down the road or just live with 1GB (im pretty good at managing ram/memory )

in general one of the complaints on the Eee, is just a design

it doesnt say ASUS on it anywhere except on the bottom sticker :(

just says Eee in script, kind of makes it looks like some junky brand netbook
