    Intel Atom Bare-Bones systems

Ok, I've decided that I'm going to build an Intel Atom-based PC from

NewEgg's 'bare-bones system' offerings. I have tentatively settled on either

the Foxconn R20-S4 or the Foxconn R20-S2 systems, with added

2GB memory, hard drive, DVD/CD burner, and a new mouse & keyboard.

I have questions about the specifics of these machines.

Both of these systems use the Intel 945GC motherboard.

The R20-S4 uses an Atom 330 Dual-core processor.

The NewEgg site says that R10-S4 has an Intel Atom 230 (1.6GHz).

Now the first two questions I have are:

    1) Is the Atom 230 dual core, like the 330?

    2) Is the processor speed of the R20-S4 1.6 Ghz like the R10-S4?

If not, what exactly is it? It doesn't say.

These question were too technical for the New Egg guy on

phone to answer - and he referred me here, as well as to the

manufacturer's (Foxconn) site. I could not find this info on Foxconn's

    site. So I'm here.

    Anybody know?

Anybody have any insight or experience with these little ITX form-factor

bare-bones systems? Should I steer clear of 'em, or go ahead?

Do Foxconn and/or Atom processors stink? Or are they OK?

     I don't need a speed-demon of a system here - but usable.

Because I'm not going to buy another monitor, (I have plenty of spares)

this thing is only going to set me back less than 300 bucks, so it's not

a lot of money - but I don't want to waste my time on a 'fool's task' here.

And why waste any money on something that will be problematic?

    Any help, anybody?

Man ivented the web. Man invented the search engine. The search engine invention led to google. Google leads you to your answers.

Took me all of 1 minute to find your answer about the 230 being dual or single core through a google search

Ok, the Atom 230 is a single core, the 330 is Dual-core.

    Thanks.

That only answers one of my questions.
