    Are these products the same?

    Hi,

I had decided to give Asus a try, and after much research decided to order:
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834220590&Tpk=34-220-590

However, it is now a deactivated item!   Arrgh.   So I called NewEgg and they said to call ASUS.  I just got off the phone with Asus and they said those laptops are still available, just not through NewEgg.

I told her the model number (N61Vg-X1) didn't even come up on the Asus website, so how could it still be available?   She said the model number to search for is N61Vg, and that the "-X1" is just a NewEgg identifier.  So.....

I googled N61Vg and came up with this at Amazon:
    http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002P3KMQC

Do you think these are these the same product?

    Thanks, Laura

Re: Are these products the same?

Both are listed under N61vg on Asus website. So really no they are not the same.

    The differences are as follows

     X1

    CPU Intel Core 2 Duo T6600 2.2G

    HDD 320GB

    OS Windows Vista Home Premium

    A2

CPU 2.53GHz Intel P8700 Core 2 Duo Processor

    HDD 500GB SATA Hard Drive

OS Windows 7 Home Premium (64 bit) Operating System

Re: Are these products the same?

the one on amazon is better then the one that was on newegg anyways.. so if the prices arent drasticly different then go with the one thats on amazon..

btw asus is full of c**p anyways.. the x1 is the model identifier for the variation difference in the series and has nothing to do with newegg..

take notice that the one on amazon is N61Vg-A2 and the one on newegg uses X1 at the end.. basicly its there for asus tech support to know what hardware is on what laptop without actually having to start it up and find out..

    Have to agree

Asus makes decent laptops but messes up with CS maybe just because it rolls out too many products?
