Data is king. Safety is what we concern most.

Re: Is the cloud a better place for our data?

Yea... Totally... Just ask Danger/T-mobile about how great the Cloud is...

Data is king yes but storing all or even most of our data in the cloud is just asking for trouble with our current infrastructure. I know from experience how fast hackers [from all across the world] would infiltrate our "cloud" for our personal info (re: credit cards/banking which even with warning users not to, they WOULD store on the cloud); faster than I could type this reply is how fast they could get access to hundreds of thousands of personal records.

I'm game with the Cloud to a level, but otherwise I do think everyone having personal computers really makes it harder to get the data. It's like this:

Scenario 1 (no cloud): Everyone's money is in their own houses. There are 2 million houses that the thieves/hackers have to infiltrate.

Scenario 2 (with cloud): Everyone's money is now consolidated in the cloud. Now there is 1 location where the thieves/hackers have to figure out how to infiltrate.
