    Which Cooling Device to get:AthlonIIX2 240 AM3 65W

    Hello All !!

I am planning to buy the combo: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.278844&cm_sp=InfoCenter-_-AMDAthlonIIBundle-_-na

And I can see the processor (AMD Athlon II X2 240 Regor 2.8GHz 2 x 1MB L2 Cache Socket AM3 65W Dual-Core Processor - OEM ) doesnot come with any cooling. So I have to pick a heatsink and fan with this (and AS 5 thermal compound).

I am not a avid gamer or graphic designer, but keep the machine running for long time; so something that does fairly good job will do (on a tight budget, hence the athlon II and phenom x4).

Can you please suggest me which heatsink + fan to pick?

this is one of the best performing low cost coolers around

You could get by with something cheaper but it is a really great heat sink for the price.

Something like this is more like the stock cooler.

If you are not OCing I highly recomend the Arctic Cooling unit, slapped that on my other PC (Athlon II X2 245) and it took 4c off the stock cooler temps and cut the noise to almost zero. On my primary rig (in the sig) I went on eBay and found the stock heatpipe cooler for Phenom II CPUs and got one for $15 for my Propus core, took 8c off the stock cooler and is almost as quiet at the AC unit. The only real knock against the stock coolers is noise, they are adequate if you don't OC but they are a little loud.

Thanks Kardon and bobcb. I am going to pick up the arctic cooling unit.

I wont be OCing, and probably with thermal paste applied and almost never on full load, i wont have a prb.
