I'm Desperate! Recording From "What You Hear"

Does anyone know a sound card that can recrod system sound?  The source is called "What You Hear" or "Stereo Mix" usually.

I have Windows 7 RC x64 and will be soon getting Home Premium x64.

I have Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS that I purchased when I was using XP, and there was no audio driver for Vista. Just recently, Creative, the maker, released Windows 7 x64 driver. The playback is fine, but when it comes to recording What You Hear, the recorded sound often cracks. I have to reboot and do the recording first before anything else on my computer. Figuring it was too annoying, I purchased another sound card from SIIG Sound Wave 7.1 whose NewEgg customer rating was great. I asked a rep from SIIG using chat if I would have the option to record system sound, the option called What You Hedar or Stereo Mix, the rep said yes. But after installing the card and the latest Win 7 driver, I don't see the option to record system sound!  I'm very frustrated about this right now.  Sorry for the rant.

I need a card for which a Win 7 x64 driver exists and can record system sound without cracking. Anybody knows one?

You can record "what you hear" sound by splitting your Audio out back into your Mic in and then into your speakers..

Male to Female Stereo audio splitter is $5 at Radio Shack and then a short cable to go from the splitter to the Mic in is another $5.

    Onboard RAID vs. 3Ware RAID

I never recommend people run RAID-5 with onboard chipsets.

    I wanted to add..

I am gonna do what you suggested, but just out of curiosity, if recording from the system is the only purpose, can I say get a 35mm cable that are males on both ends, insert one end to Line-In and the other end to the speaker output jack to accomplish the same theoretically??  I am not doing that because then I won't be able to hear what I'm recording though, lol, but I just want to learn how this all works. :D

I will hit a Radio Shack this Saturday and report back how it went!

    Wow, this seriously works!!! :OOOO

I got a splitter and cable but I am returning the splitter caz it tuned out that one 3.5mm male to male cable was sufficient in my case, caz my Antec Nine Hundred case has a mic and headphone/speaker jacks on its front panel!!! So, the total cost will be $6.50. AMAZIN!! I was about to spend 60+ bucks on a Sound Blaster card!  EmbarrassedBig Smile  You saved me a lot! Thank you!!!
