    Best 30" Monitors

Hey all!  I was wondering what does everyone think is the best 30" monitor out there?  I would be mostly watching anime/movies on it, gaming, and just all the typical stuff as in web surfing etc.  I've been asking around and people are saying to go with the LG on Newegg, or go through Dell, or the HP on Newegg.  I'd also like a monitor that doesn't get stuck or dead pixels.  My current 25" Samsung I got from Costco will at times have stuck pixels.  I just want a great monitor since I'll be spending a LOT of money on it!!  Anybody who has these monitors giving feedback would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks in advance!!

Since no one has been offering their ideas, I thought I would chime in.

Have you considered going with a TV that has an HDMI port?  Monitors of that size would tend to be very, very expensive because of the resolutions they would support, while a TV would have more functionality and would work just fine for movie/anime viewing via a computer with a DVI to HDMI converter.  Thoughts?

I don't know about the OP, but I have a 28" tv I believe, and this is the route I plan to take. I don't have the converter yet though. I'm not sure the resolutions go up nearly as high on tvs though.

Nope. =)  I already have a tv in the room and I would like the higher resolution.  Plus I'm talking about watching stuff with computer codex and I don't want the hassle of converting stuff to watch it on a tv.  I just don't know which brand/model to get and I hope people on here have these 30" monitors and can give feedback one way or the other.  Thanks again!

    Re: Best 30" Monitors

Picture quality wise 30" monitors can be the best bet with the highest pixels density and the lowest pixel pitchs.  2560 X 1600 roughly equal to 4.1 millions pixels which is about 78% more pixels compare to the 1920 X 1200 resolution.  Gaming at 30" monitor required intense amount of GPU power.  I would suggest the LG display as well, NEC is overpriced, Samsung and other brands are also good but the best panels type after all are S-IPS/H-IPS.

What?? You mean this here Riva TNT 16MB card can't run Crysis at max settings @ 2560x1600?... Darn..  Stick out tongue Oh well, back to playing Quake 3 at 15 FPS @ 800x600...

    Onboard RAID vs. 3Ware RAID

I never recommend people run RAID-5 with onboard chipsets.

I found it funny when at least one person in every forum always bring up Crysis on GPU perform.  IMO, that game is great graphics but also has to do with it poor programming as well.

You ever notice when you play that game on the highest difficulty level that they just multiply the number of baddies x2?  I think even on the earler levels I snuck up on a guy in a little porta-potty shed...  But the joke was on me when I opened the door and there were two guys in there instead of one!

And the day before yesterday, there was a baddie walking along the path so I picked up one of those wooden crates and I chucked it at him and wailed him right in the back with it..  He fell over, got up and kept walking along like nothing happneed, he didn't even turn around to look... Ya, let's just pretend that didn't happen..  So I followed him, and hit him in the back with a barrel instead and he just died Sad
