Microsoft Windows 7 Webinar - "Beyond the Hype"

    Hi EggXperts!

Here's an upcoming web event that gives participants a chance to ask Microsoft engineers in-depth questions about Windows 7:

    https://www.eventbuilder.com/event_desc.asp?p_event=x6h5j9t8

    Date/Time: Wed. Sept. 30, 2009, 12:30 PM, USA Pacific
    Duration: 1 Hour

"Find out about the latest features and improvements on Windows 7 directly from one of Microsoft’s engineers. Join our live webinar to get an insider’s view on what isn’t widely known about Windows 7. The first 50 registrants who attend the webinar will receive a FREE Windows 7 t-shirt. Be the first to hear about Windows 7 promotions and you may also leave with a prize or two!"

    Best Regards,
    Paul

My first question will be, "You guys aren't the same guys that screwed up Vista are you?"

    Reasons to get Windows 7:
    Snap to maximize windows
    Formatting huge hard drives
    It's Vista but better

The ASUS M4A78-E sucks, don't get it.

Why t-shirts? They're giving out the same stuff at their Twitter site.

Would a good question be, "Is the 64-bit edition of IE8 compatible with all regular add-ons?" ?

Is there an option instead of pinning the file to program X I can just open it with said program?

It figures. I have to be at work too and I have no external connectivity. Bummer. Wish I could have a chance to win something, besides a t-shirt. I'd love a copy of Windows 7 to install on my PC I just ordered.

Re: Microsoft Windows 7 Webinar - "Beyond the Hype"

I missed the deadline for the $50 off regular price deal. I need to be able to get the deal any way if possible. I am disabled and live on a fixed income. I also have two kids [they are twins] who started college this fall. I need all the discounts I can get. I also need to find a discount on Microsoft Office Home and Student 2007 Licensed for 3 PCs. I saw it on Newegg this past summer for $69.95. Now it sells for about twice that price. I may not be able to afford either Windows 7 or MS Office Home & Student, and certainly not both.

I am currently running as my OS, Windows 7, Evaluation Copy, Build 7100. I've been running it since this past March or so. I understand that my Windows 7 version will quit become unusable in March of 2010.

    By the way:

    I liked Windows XP

    I hated Vista

    I love Windows 7

Academic software ftw. Have them get software through their college, most have an agreement with Microsoft.

For example locally Office is free for every student and Windows is $5.

Re: Microsoft Windows 7 Webinar - "Beyond the Hype"

    1) Do you really need a shirt that badly, let alone one which advertises for a Microsoft product?!?!

    2) What would the 'engineer' actually disclose that is worthwhile? It's a publicity stunt meant to gain attention; what they would say is likely found on the internet as well.

    3) Funny you should complain about Newegg's shipping... I've had tremendous success with upwards of 50 orders easily in my time with newegg and none of which took forever to ship. Complain about the companies who take 2 weeks to 'process' and another week to actually 'ship' the items...

P.S. Little known feature about Windows 7: It's still a Microsoft product, it's still bound to let you down when you most need it :-).

Disclaimer: I am using Windows 7 right now on my laptop and desktop as my primary/only OS, the RTM (Release-to-Manufacturer) edition, build 7600+ and I love it, but just a warning with that last comment, because everything else Microsoft always finds a way to do it to me and those I know... Game consoles, Operating Systems, Phone operating systems; you name it, it has had problems. I hope 7 isn't like that, but look what hope has done to this country/world now.

Please, feel free to private message me if you are looking for help; just link me to the thread.

Since your kids are going to college they might get a better deal at school, if not I suggest you get the microsoft office over here for student http://www.microsoft.com/student/discounts/theultimatesteal-us/default.aspx just ask your kids to use their school email and make the order.  I was able to install this on 3 pc, even though it didn't say 3 license on the box.  Another student sales for Windows 7 www.win741.com for the "Upgrade Version" Home Premium and Professional, to obtain the professional package you will have to register the school email and on the next page click on

Need to join your school’s network domain? You can also get Windows 7 Professional for $29.99.

Re: Microsoft Windows 7 Webinar - "Beyond the Hype"

    Greetings All,

First, my apologies for those of you who found out about this event too late!  EggXpert's email-distribution software sends batches of emails over time, and it appears that although roughly 75% were sent before 11:30AM, the rest were sent throughout the afternoon and evening.

There's another global webinar (not Newegg-sponsored) taking place on Oct. 7 that is also available for those who missed yesterday's:
    http://www.windows7summit.com/register.aspx

Secondly, for those who did attend, some promotional codes were made available. Unfortunately, our promo code system doesn't allow these to be applied to pre-orders. Newegg and Microsoft are looking into alternative ways to provide the promised discounts, and you will be contacted with further information as soon as it is available.
I will also post updates to this thread when I find out more.

    Thanks everyone!
    - Paul
