    Intel's Lynnfield CPU's bested AMD's Denab

MaximumPC mag did a huge benchmark and write up of the lynnfields vs the i7 920 and the top X4 CPU from AMD. The little i5 750 held its own against the big dogs and came out as the clear price/performance winner from what I can tell from the testing and write up

Intel's Core i5 Analyzed and Tested (150+ Benchmarks)

So those thinking about dropping bucks on the X4 965 or lower cpu from AMD best look at the the remarkable i5 750 from intel.

I know when I get some bucks together I will be buying a gigabyte p55 board 4gbs ddr3 and an i5 750 cpu. Though the i7 860 could be on my list too if the price drops to below 250 when I get ready to buy.

Good find there Sparker but after reading it through Intel has screwed us again, if you don't stick with the 1366 i7 build you will not be able to use the 6 core CPU that they plan on bringing out and will not make it for the i5/i7 1156 builds so we are penalized there if we go cheap now.

    what goes around comes around

    (RIG)GA-EP45-UD3P, Q9550 @ 3.5 ghz, CM's V8, HD2600XT512mb 128bit, 4gigs OCZ 1066 ddr2, Seagate sata 120 gig & a 320 gig, 2 Liteon sata DVD Burner, My DIY Case, Corsair 550watt PSU, 2ea 19" LCD monitors.

yeah i also hate the fact you can't bring along your old favorite cpu cooler either. so you have to buy a new cooler for the new sockets. if you go 1156 you can't go to a six core either. AMD is allowing you to do both of those things with the AM3 platform. Though if gaming is your priority AM3 offers better bang for buck. might not do as well in synthetics or winrar and the like but for gaming AM3 is awesome. here is a link to another thread where i put a couple of links backing up this point. http://www.eggxpert.com/forums/thread/570653.aspx
